THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM WINS ‘FILM OF THE YEAR

CINEMA Days, the trade events for UK regional film journalists, announces that the triple Oscar winning, double BAFTA winning thriller, The Bourne Ultimatum, has won the UK public vote for Film of the Year, organised as part of The Richard Attenborough Film Awards 2008.

Directed by Paul Greengrass (United 93, The Bourne Supremacy) and produced by Frank Marshall, Patrick Crowley and Paul L. Sandberg, The Bourne Ultimatum was the 3rd in the blockbuster series starring Matt Damon as amnesiac assassin Jason Bourne. On its UK release in August 2007, more than 4 million cinemagoers saw The Bourne Ultimatum.

This people’s choice award marks the 1st time that a national public vote for film of the year has been co-ordinated via a range of 25 UK regional media outlets, newspapers, magazines and websites.  Film lovers cast their votes online at www.focusonmovies.co.uk between 31 January 2008 and 15 February 2008. They picked from an industry-selected shortlist of 30 critical and commercial hits. 25 voters also won luxury goody bags, courtesy of this year’s awards partners, in a free prize draw open to all participants.

Matt Damon said:- “I love playing this character and working with Paul Greengrass and the entire crew who made the Bourne series a real triumph. We shot most of the sequences in The Bourne Ultimatum in London and at the UK’s Pinewood Studios with a primarily British crew, so I’m particularly excited that this award has been voted for by the Brits themselves!”

Paul Greengrass said:- “I am hugely honoured that the UK public has voted The Bourne Ultimatum as their favourite film in what was a fine year for the cinema. It’s a real thrill that the public have enjoyed the Bourne series as much as they have. Thanks to them and to Richard Attenborough too.”

Frank Marshall said:- “You couldn’t ask for a better cast or director to work with. We’re delighted that such an ambitious film has met with such recognition and success. A huge well done to everyone who put their heart and soul into making The Bourne Ultimatum the film it is, and an even bigger thank you to the UK public and the Richard Attenborough Film Awards.”

Lord Attenborough CBE said:- “My admiration and congratulations go to Paul Greengrass and all who made The Bourne Ultimatum such a pulsating cinematic experience, and also to the public who felt passionately enough to vote in their thousands.”

The public vote is the 7th and final award made in this year’s Richard Attenborough Film Awards. The other 6 categories were all voted for by UK regional film journalists and editors.

Those results, as announced on 31 January 2008, were as follows:-

Filmmaker of the year Joe Wright

Rising Star of the year Sam Riley

Actor of the year James McAvoy

Actress of the year Cate Blanchett

Screenwriter of the year Christopher Hampton

A HELPING HAND ONTO THE LADDER FOR 1ST TIME BUYERS IN LIVERPOOL

STEWART Milne Homes has launched a shared equity plan with no rent to pay - to give 1st time buyers a chance to leap onto the property ladder with ease.  The outstanding offer is available at its Kaber Court development, close to Liverpool city centre and allows buyers to move for 75% of the purchase price, without having to pay any rent on the 25% equity share retained by Stewart Milne.

With the latest figures from the Halifax suggesting the average house is now out of reach for 1st time buyers in 96% of towns in the UK, the incentive will come as a welcome relief to many looking to purchase a home in Liverpool.  With 2 bedroom apartments available at the contemporary development from £114,950 customers using the shared equity scheme can buy a property from as little as £86,250.

Brian Deacon, sales and marketing director for Stewart Milne’s North West division, said:- “We’re delighted to be offering shared equity at Kaber Court. With rising house prices, people are finding it harder and harder to step onto or move up the property ladder.  Our shared equity plan gives them the opportunity to buy the kind of property they've always aspired to but have never been able to afford. And with no rent to pay on the portion of equity we retain, buyers are not paying out any ‘dead money’.

Even if someone can afford to pay the full price, they may prefer not to tie up all their capital in a property to have more disposable income to spend on life's essential luxuries.  As this is not a shared '
purchase' but a shared 'equity' plan, if someone wants to buy back the 25% equity at a later stage when circumstances for them may have changed, they will simply pay us 25% of the market value at that time, with no interest due to us at all.”

Terms and conditions apply and guides with a full How It Works explanation are available. The friendly sales consultants at the Kaber Court marketing suite can offer further help.  Kaber Court is an executive range of 2-bedroom apartments, many with fantastic views of the river and Liverpool’s famous landmarks, including the Liver Buildings, Anglican Cathedral and Albert Docks.  Situated on the historic former site of the Mersey Iron and Steel Works, off Horsfall Street, the stylish new homes are perfect for professionals working nearby, with convenient access to the city centre by road and a walkway between the development and Brunswick railway station, giving a direct service into the city centre.

Brian added:- “Kaber Court has everything a buyer could look for in a property. The apartments are secure, easy to maintain, and close to the heart of this vibrant city with its fashionable shops, world-class restaurants and famous night life.”

Many of the apartments, which all come with a parking space and bicycle stand, are ready to move into immediately.  All properties come complete with fitted kitchens and bathrooms, with chic laminate flooring, and a spacious open plan kitchen and living area. Apartments are available with en-suites and all have either a walk-on or Juliette balcony and have a contemporary design twist to appeal to young professionals and students.

The on site marketing suite is open Thursday to Monday, 10am - 5.30pm or call 0151 707 0179, with a show home available to view.  The development is Scotland based Stewart Milne Homes’ first venture in Liverpool since it expanded into the North West of England. It also has a number of successful developments in Wigan, Middleton, Whitefield, and Strines.
