A New Vicar in Formby

ON Tuesday
arch 2008, the Induction of the Reverent Harvie Nicol was held. He
was installed as the new Vicar of St Luke's Parish Church, Formby.
The Bishop of Warrington officiated with the Arch Deacon of
Liverpool and the Area Dean of Sefton.
After the service
there was a welcome party in the Parish Hall. The Church, and
afterwards the Hall, was packed by parishioners, guests from the
local churches and local, leading representatives of other fields.
Also present were his parents and many members of his previous
parish in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Harvie was supported during the evening
by his wife Sally, daughter Heather and son Andrew. He was born in
Falkirk, Scotland, and after leaving school, he trained as a nurse.
Later, he answered God's call and studied to be a priest in
Nottingham.

The parishioners at St Luke's filled the
Church on Sunday at the 10.30am family service after the well
attended 8.30am Holy Communion service. He then attended the 5pm
Holy Communion Service, which was also well attended. Members
of the various congregations remarked very favourably about him and
declared how pleased they were that he had come to be the new Vicar.
