Sons of MOD
BACK in
Southport, the Sons of MOD, with their fantastic acid jazz blend of
pop, took Cable Street by storm.
 The night of Friday 7
March 2008 started out smoothly at the bar, but sadly just when the
band was ready to set up.... boom, the fuses for the whole pub went
bang, plunging the venue into darkness. Not to be put off, the band
and the staff soon get things running by candle light as frantic
efforts to get an electrician were made. But all the phone calls
were in vain as no one could find one, so the night's festivities
looked as if they were to be cancelled. Never to be put off however,
they got power from a back up supply! Not enough to power the entire
pub, just enough for the music and the pumps... The band soon set up
and the sounds of MOD rang out. This band, even when under pressure,
still sounds fantastic and my hat's off to the staff of the pub as
well, for producing what was a fantastic and lively night of
entertainment. It was also nice to see the support that was given by
the pub's clientele over the half hour black out. It just shows that
some venues in Southport are friendly and genuinely nice places to
be in.
