Liverpool style setters… "Are you the Liverpool ONE?"

CALLING out to the style savvy Liverpool workforce! With the opening of Liverpool ONE just around the corner Liverpool ONE is launching its very own search for Liverpool’s most stylish worker.

If ever proof was needed that Liverpool is now seen as a platform for new fashion brands, one need look no further than the wide variety of retailers snapping up space at the brand new Liverpool ONE. Built in the heart of the city centre the 42-acre development will include over 160 shops, plus cafes, restaurants and bars, two hotels, a huge Odeon cinema, 600 apartments, parking for more than 3,000 cars and a five-acre park.

The first phase of the £1bn retail and leisure development is set to open at the end of May and has attracted names including American Apparel, All Saints, H&M, Aldo, John Lewis and Debenhams.

The ‘Are you the Liverpool ONE?’ search will kick off at the end of this month and Liverpool ONE needs your help! Guys and Gals, young and old, curvy and slim are all invited to take part if you think you have what it takes in the fashion stakes…

The search will commence on Friday, 25 April 2008 and each consecutive Friday right up to 16 May 2008 will see Funky Friday’s coming to your offices, favourite bars and on the streets of Liverpool!

Each week Liverpool ONE will post photos taken on Funky Fridays onto the Liverpool ONE website and open the vote to the public.

After each Friday event, photos will go up for one week, and every week the public’s favourite two will be short-listed for the grand final. 8 finalists will be invited along to the Liverpool ONE launch event on 29 May as VIP guests and the winner will be announced on the day!

If you want to get involved, just dress your best on one of these four dates:– 25 April 2008, 2 May 2008, 9 May 2008 and 19 May 2008; the Liverpool ONE scouts whereabouts will be disclosed nearer the time, and all information will be available online! If you think your colleagues have the cutting edge then spread the word!

Liverpool ONE is looking for a stylish man OR woman. The winner will be someone with self-confidence: Liverpool ONE wants to see a style that reflects your personality and inspires others. Whether you model yourself on a screen siren, an Indie-rocker or a super-model, Liverpool ONE wants someone who is not afraid to mix high street with couture, or charity shop chic with department store sexy. We are looking for the Liverpool ONE!

Says Joanne Jennings chief executive at Liverpool ONE:- “Liverpool ONE is so excited about the search for Liverpool’s most stylish worker. We’ve known for a long time that the city is a trend setter and this has been proven by the fantastic response we have received from big name brands wanting to be a part of Liverpool ONE. Liverpool ONE represents the future for the city and the fashion industry clearly wants to be a part of it which is why we are now launching the ‘Are you the Liverpool ONE’ search!’.

Not only will the winner of ‘Are you the Liverpool ONE?’ be a guest at Liverpool ONE’s launch event on 29 May 2008, but will also receive a fabulous £1,000 shopping spree courtesy of Debenhams and John Lewis, enough to keep you stylish for the rest of the year!"

New sign starts new partnership

WHEN Paymentshield, whose offices are at Kew Industrial Estate, approached the North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport Hospital offering to raise money for a specific project, we took the opportunity to fulfil a project which had it's roots in an idea over two years ago.

Dr Clive Glass, Clinical Director at the Spinal Injuries Centre explained:- "Back in 2005 we decided we wanted a logo which reflected what we did and where we are. One of our ex-patients Ryan Forshaw was asked to come up with a design and in September 2005 Ryan's design was finally agreed. The star in the centre of the wheel is over Southport, the fact that we support people from a lot of places around the Country is represented by the UK map and the figure in the chair shows a lot of movement and hope.

Having got the design we wanted to use it, and while it is on all the literature about the Centre, we really wanted to put it on a sign by our main entrance. We were absolutely delighted when Paymentshield approached us saying the wanted to adopt us as one of their local charities. It has meant that we are finally able to design a sign that truly reflects the support we give to people with spinal cord injury across the North West, proud that the logo designed by our ex-patient Ryan Forshaw is now publicly displayed, and grateful for the kind donation from Paymentshield staff who made it happen."

Jacqueline Barlow, Relationship Manager at Paymentshield added:- "As one of Southport's leading employers we want to reach out positively into the community. The Spinal Injuries Centre is one of Southport's longest established specialist facilities and we can see no better reason to join forces.

Our staff had a great day dressing down at work to raise funds to purchase the entrance sign needed by the unit, and we are happy to have officially presented the sign. We look forward to many more joint ventures in the future."
