Joe Driscoll Live In Southport

TO have what US press are call a "sensation" playing in the town on Friday, 20 February 2009, we had to take a look... The US artist is not only highly talented, but also a musical genius. With just him on stage on, this one man band proceeded to blend lots of types of music from hip-hop to reggae and soul, adding folk and rock for good measure in order to produce a highly original and unique sound. This amazing sound got Southport's Drakes Bar on west Street jumping. As his undeniable show played on into the night, it was fascinating watching him building up the tune using his loop pedal, as he added an array of instruments from guitar to a mouth organ and at one point a Didgeridoo!  At points his music became transcendental and at others his beat boxing made you want to get up and dance. If you missed this show, it is hard to explain until you have witness his technique live, in order to see why he gets an overwhelming response from audiences, critics, and industry insiders. After the show our editor Patrick had a quick chat with him and he told us that he is planning to be back in Drakes later this year.  If he is back on stage, in Southport or in Liverpool, get down and see this transatlantic sensation for your self, live.
