10 year old boy is robbed in Formby!

MERSEYSIDE Detectives are investigating the robbery of a 10 year old boy on Tuesday, 21 April 2009, and have released a CCTV still of two youths they wish to speak to in connection with this incident.

The robbery took place outside of the Spar Store in Harrington Road, Formby at about 7.10pm. The 10 year old was outside of the shop on his bike when two youths approached him and asked him to swap his bike with theirs. He declined and the two youths left. A short time later, the youths returned with their hoods up and one was wearing a mask. They threatened the boy with a knife before taking his bike and heading off in the direction of Larkhill Lane, Formby.

The first person captured on CCTV is described as white, mid to late teens, wearing a black hooded top with a large white emblem on the front and rear with Adidas written below it. The second person is described as white and mid to late teens, wearing a hooded top.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to a man who was seen getting into his car, in the Spar car park when the youths were conversing with the boy on the first occasion, he may have seen something that could help officers with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Dave Keegan
said:- "This is a particularly nasty experience for anyone to go through, let a alone a 10 year old boy.

We are treating this incident seriously and are appealing for anyone who has any information that could help us with our enquiries to come forward and contact us."

Merseyside Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information to contact them.   They can do so by calling Formby Police Station on:- 0151 777 3110 or Crimestoppers on:- 0800 555 111.

Your School Needs You..!

YOUR help is required...!   Heygarth Primary School in Eastham has been shortlisted as a finalist in a nationwide competition, launched by gate manufacturer Cannock Gates, to compete for a state-of-the-art school entrance worth up to £2,000.   The school, located on Heygarth Road, has been selected by Cannock Gates to go head-to-head with ten other finalist schools from across the UK to vie for the prize.   Heygarth Primary School is campaigning locally to secure as many votes as possible and is urging all friends of the school to show their support.   The school with the most votes at midnight on Tuesday, 30 June 2009, will be declared the winner.     To register your vote, simply log on to:- cannockgates.co.uk/gate-competition now!   Elizabeth Hare sends two of her children to the school. She commented:- “In the last three years we’ve had four head teachers. Since Mrs. Zsapka arrived at the school and took on the role as head teacher, she has really turned the school around but there is still so much to do! The children are so proud of their school and think highly of the teachers that work there – they work hard to teach our children the meaning of life. We would love to win the new gate to say thank you to Mrs. Zsapka for all her hard work. The school is really on the up and, with a new gate, we’d be the best looking and most talked about school on the Wirral!”   Julie Turnbull, General Manager for Cannock Gates, comments:- “We have been inundated with entries from schools desperate for a new gate and we can’t wait to find out who the public chooses as the most deserving of the prize. We offer wrought iron style and wooden gates in over 750 styles and our bespoke service is also available, which means that the winning school can really have fun choosing a new gate. Make sure you cast your vote to support your local school!”
