Jaguars Red 1 Burscough 4

The weather was very kind to us today with lovely blue skies, as Jags entertained Burscough fc.

The match started evenly with both teams battling for control with chances at both ends. Burscough were the more physical side winning more 50-50 balls but the jags kept on trying with the Burscough keeper making numerous good saves.

Burscough won a corner with a great punch out by Sam P but unfortunately it landed in front of a Burscough player who from 25 yards lobbed the ball into the roof of the net.

The Jags came back strongly and a good run through the middle by Ryan C found him in space to lob the keeper for the Jags equaliser.

Burscough started to take control of the midfield but some great defending by Kyle D and Cam C kept them at bay until finally Burscough broke down the Jags defence to take a 2-1 half time lead.

The 2nd half was similar to the 1st but a good run by a Burscough player led them to take a 3-1 lead.

Jags kept battling away and a great run by Josh H was stopped with another good save from the Burscough keeper.

Burscough scored a 4th which was a little harsh on the Jags.

The game was played in a good spirit we battled well and on the day Burscough were physically stronger in their challenges and did deserve their win.

Jags mom was Kyle Dawes with an excellent battling performance. Thanks to all parents and boys

Hesketh Colts 0 Billinge 3

A game of 2 halves today with Hesketh's 5 man midfield huffing and puffing trying to blow the Billinge house down.

The gale became a puff of wind in the 2nd half as Hesketh had literally run their socks off in midfield and vast swathes of pitch opened up as Billinge then exploited the short term strategy to the full moving the ball around quicker and increasing the tempo of their game.

Billinge without Anthony in goal saw Jones deputise with one fantastic save in the 1st half and Fredders was rested.

The 2 teams went in at Half Time locked at 0-0.

Billinge had not come for this scoreline and increased their workrate and tempo on a stiflingly hot morning and threw on Chisnall for Deano and Owen for Barron.

Peete was on target straight from the restart with a great save from the home keeper, then Peete turned provider for Chisnall who fired narrowly wide. The roles were reversed a minute later with the same result.

Billinge kept going and after 50 minutes, as Hesketh tired, they got their reward with a well-worked move on the edge of the Hesketh box. Bradshaw, who had largely been anonymous until this point, decided to take the game by the scruff of the net and show the forwards how to finish with a drive inside the right hand post after exchanging passes with Chisnall.

Hesketh came back after a clearance was miscued on the bobbly, bone hard surface to the Hesketh forward who missed the ball completely when it was easier to score.

This meant Billinge had had a warning and they took heed as Bradshaw again finished smartly on the edge of the box with time and space as Hesketh's midfield were now almost out on their feet.

3-0 Arrived shortly afterwards as a Hook corner fell at Deano's feet, on up front for the last 15 minutes, as he swivelled on the ball and fired into the corner.

The fitter and better team won today but Hesketh deserve credit for their first half performance and have certainly improved from last season and should gather more points this season.

MOM - Bibby/Bradshaw - Both showed excellent control of the ball to retain possession for Billinge

Goals - Bradshaw (2) 50,63 Anderson (1) 73
