 Ainsdale 2 Formby Yellow 1

In a close contest it was Ainsdale, in the 17th minute, who broke
the deadlock with Conor Bligh heading home a Thomas Cunliffe cross.

Two minutes into the second half a Joel Styche through ball saw
Conor Bligh rifle the ball into the top corner for his and
			Ainsdale's second.

Ainsdale's keeper Ethan Stroud was at his best saving a penalty as
Formby staged a late fightback but an Ainsdale own goal provided for
a frantic last few minutes which saw Ainsdale's goal under siege but
Ainsdale hung on for a narrow win.

 Billinge 7 Hesketh Colts 2

Billinge won the first half of this encounter at a canter playing up
the hill with controlled pacy football with Chisnall, Peate and
			Fredders showing their class.

The second half was a tale of missed chances but to be fair to
Hesketh they dug in and managed to share the goals in the second
half and should be proud of their last 40 minutes performance.

Billinge opened the scoring on seven minutes as Chisnall played a
delightful ball through to Fredders whose shot had too much power
for the keeper to hold and it was 1-0. A minute later it was Deano's
turn as his shot also beat the keeper for pace as he got a hand to
it. Billinge won a corner on 15 minutes and after a Bibby challenge
and lay off to Connolly it was Connolly who gleefully fired home
from the edge of the area.

It was Hesketh who then came gamefully back with a deflected shot,
which Jonesy, deputising for Ant in goal, got down smartly to save
at the foot of his post.

Hesketh gained a corner shortly after and as the ball was partially
cleared a shot through a melee of players found the net.

It was then 4-1 to Billinge on 23 minutes as Fredders beat two men
on the left and played the ball across the face of goal for Alex to
score his first goal for Billinge three yards out.

5-1 arrived after good work from Peate on the left who stood up a
glorious cross which was converted by Fredders and then 5 minutes
later it was 6-1 as Fredders ran through after the ball was played
into his path to score his hat trick.

After half time Billinge relaxed and this coupled with Hesketh’s
greater determination saw the goals shared. Jacko riding two
challenges and firing in an unstoppable shot on the edge of the
Hesketh area to make it 7-1. Hesketh then won a deserved penalty for
a foul in the box and Jonesy saved the shot.

This stung Hesketh and almost immediately they won a free kick on
the left and as the ball came in it was missed by the Billinge
defence and the shot was converted for 7-2.

Hesketh put up a brave second half performance and should be proud
of how the acquitted themselves today...
