ARRIVA REWARDS LIVERPOOL STUDENT WITH BRAND NEW TV AND XBOX

A student from
the University of Liverpool has been crowned the winner of Arriva
Buses’ Student Competition.
Arriva North West launched the free prize draw for all students in
the area, who were invited to enter by filling out a prize draw
card.
Rebecca Carlisle, 19, who is in her 2nd year studying Zoology, is
delighted to have won an LG 32” Full HD LCD TV and XBox.
She said:- “I was really shocked and excited to have won
Arriva’s Student Competition. I entered after the Freshers’
Week Fayre but didn’t expect to win. My housemates and I have quite
an old TV so it’ll be great to have a brand new TV and an Xbox that
we can all enjoy using in the house. We are all students so we
wouldn’t usually be able to afford such a luxury.”
Debra Mercer, marketing and communications manager for Arriva North
West, said:- “Arriva is delighted to reward Rebecca with a TV
and Xbox for her and her university friends to enjoy. Students are
having a tough time at the moment, so it’s great to be able to put a
smile on the face of a local student.”

TAKE NOTE:- This weekend is the Annual Formby Nativity Play
THIS coming Saturday, 11 December
2010, the Formby Churches Together will once again stage the very
popular, live, open air annual Formby Village Nativity enactment in
the centre of the village shopping area. It begins at 11.00am in
Chapel Street.
The 9 local Churches and local Schools provide the cast and once
again real animals (goats, sheep, horse and donkey) will take part.
Those who have seen previous years’ performances will know that it
is an event well worth visiting and that it evokes the true spirit
of Christmas amidst all our scurrying and bustling lives. This
centuries old birthday party portrays one very important part of our
country’s Christian Faith. It is an event to be enjoyed by young and
old alike. |
Liverpool girl finds first celebrity Christmas card in TV appeal
fundraiser
LUCKY
10 year old Ella Redmond from Liverpool got a big surprise when
buying her Christmas cards over the weekend – inside was a homemade
card by Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton!
As part of The Blue Peter Go Cardz Appeal, children and their
families were asked to design Christmas cards using
specially-created packs. Big names from the world of pop, children’s
television, and BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing also lent their creative
flair to design exclusive cards.
Ella’s mum Kim said:- “Ella is thrilled! She spent a long time
picking out a pack, and was drawn to the pretty design on the front
card of this one - which was decorated with blue glittery stars.
When we saw that it was drawn and signed by Helen Skelton, she was
over the moon!”
The appeal aims to raise £80,000, with all of the money improving
disabled children’s lives by providing vital wheelchairs at new
assessment clinics run by Whizz-Kidz. Tesco stepped forward to sell
the cards in selected Superstores and Tesco Extras from now until
24 December 2010 in packs of two for £1.20.
Ashley Westpfel, Regional Fundraising Manager, said:- “This
appeal has struck a chord in the public imagination – and the
celebs’. The designs we received back were creative, colourful and
each made with care. We are overjoyed to have won the Blue Peter
Appeal this year, and to have long-standing supporter Tesco step up
to sell the cards, this looks set to be a fantastic fundraiser!”
Sir David Reid, Tesco Chairman said:- "We're delighted to be
able to do our bit to help Whizz-Kidz and Blue Peter raise money to
change the lives of disabled children. The homemade Christmas cards
for this appeal are on sale at our Customer Service desks and Direct
desks in selected Tesco stores across the UK. Every penny spent on
the cards goes to Whizz-Kidz."
This is the first time the coveted television appeal has sold a
made-at-home product through a supermarket before, and is a
completely new model with which to engage wider communities.
