Around the lake in 24 hours
Photos on this page by Patrick Trollope.

Since it first started in 1977 the event has got bigger and bigger and this year 51 boats from all over the UK set sail at 12.00 hours on the 14 September 2002 on a taxing 24 hour race around the lake.  One competitor said "It is the UK's Number one endurance dinghy race, and it is a fantastic feeling to take part in and is one of the best was to see just what you and your tam is made of."

"Despite the bad weather last year no one this year broke any records, but it was one of the best so far.  We had wind, sun and beer, what more could you want to keep the team spirit going." said one of the race officials only to have a team but in adding "The bacon sandwages were something out of this world as well!"  and I think that summed up the atmosphere very well.  as it was very relaxed and extremely social.

All the offices and the Mayer and Mayeres of Sefton above and the winning team, from Southport West Lancashire Y.C. with the Mayer.

We would like to thank the West Lancashire Yacht Club For their Help.
