| Diamond Jubilee
celebrated across the city LIVERPOOL residents will be
celebrating the Queens Diamond Jubilee this weekend with events and
street parties taking place across the city.  A total of 39
streets have applied to the council to hold a street party, and
there are other events happening around the city during the Jubilee
weekend.  On Monday, 4 June 2012, Liverpool will be lighting 8
beacons along the Pier Head at approx 10.15pm to coincide with a
network of over 4000 Beacons being lit by communities throughout the
United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man along with the
Commonwealth and UK Overseas, to mark this historic moment in the
Queen's reign. The beacon, once used as a tool for communication,
has now become a symbol of unity across towns, borders, countries
and continents and is often the central point of focus for any
outdoor gathering or celebration.  Liverpool's Lord Mayor,
Councillor Sharon Sullivan said:- "Liverpool people have a
real warmth and admiration for the Queen and the Royal family. This
was demonstrated by the numbers who came out to greet her Majesty
and the Duke of Edinburgh on their recent visit to the city only a
few weeks ago. Street parties are a great way for neighbours and
friends to spend some time together to celebrate this historic
event. There are also lots of things going on in and around the city
over the weekend, so there is no excuse not to get out and about and
enjoy this momentous Jubilee weekend and everything Liverpool has to
			offer."
Selby Road in the Orrell park area of the city will be celebrating
the Diamond Jubilee on Monday 4 June. A fun-filled day has been
organised by resident Paula Blair. She said:- "This is going
to be a great event, all the residents have really pulled together
to make sure the children in the street have a memorable day. The
road has been dug up over the past few months and we have had to
spend our days looking out at unsightly railings, so seeing the road
all decked out in bunting and balloons will be a refreshing change."

Around 50 to 60 children will be greeted by Mickey and Minnie Mouse
and, thanks to a gesture of goodwill from United Utilities for
disruption caused during roadworks, youngsters can look forward to a
disco, face painting and a magician. As well as a candy floss
machine, residents can enjoy feasting on pizza and cakes supplied by
local businesses.  Elsewhere across the city:-

► From Saturday, 2 June 2012, through to
Sunday, 10 June 2012, Croxteth Hall will be asking visitors to solve
the clues to the crossword to find the mystery word associated with
the Queen's Jubilee Celebrations and discover what also happened 60
years ago in 1952. All correct entries will be entered into a prize
draw to win an amazing unique jubilee 'Royal Chocolate Crown
			Sculpture'

► And on Bank Holiday Monday, 4 June 2012,
younger children can act as King or Queen with special jubilee horse
drawn bus rides around Croxteth Hall. For more information and a

Liverpool and royalty, with a prize of £1,000 up for grabs.
► Alt Park in Croxteth will also be
hosting a fun day from 11am to 3pm. There will be a range of
activities available such as face painting, arts & crafts, sports
and family games including a special Royal themed fancy dress with
prizes for best dressed little Kings and Queens. Live music will
also be played throughout the day and you can bring your bike for a
FREE bike check-Up. Food will be available or you could make a day

 | | Off to the
			Seaside?
			 AS temperatures have
climbed over the last few days of May, the public is being reminded
not to park dangerously and not to double park. Many areas along
Merseyside's coastline over Saturday, 26 May and Sunday, 27 May
2012, witnessed bad parking and some areas, it caused difficulties
for emergency services. This was a shot of Bushbys Lane in Formby,
on Saturday, 26 May 2012. Residents were shocked by the poor parking
and also the dangers it brought. Cars were seen parked on junctions,
making it hard to manoeuvre out of roads, also around double parked
cars and even blocked resident's drives. We have been informed that
Police will be issuing tickets to motorists parking dangerously and
will be monitoring the situation over the summer. This will be done
around all areas in and around roads that have access to the
			seaside.

			 Spalding and
District Round Table Wants Your Stag Do Stories SPALDING and District Round

			Table  are compiling a
definitive guide to organising the ultimate stag do and is looking
for examples of good and bad practice, from people in Spalding.
The stag do is often considered the 'last stand' for
the groom-to-be, so for the best man, the one typically tasked to
arrange this rite of passage, it's understandable that along with a
sense of pride, comes a degree of trepidation at having to deliver a
stag do that lives up to expectations.

Following the success of last year's guide to the perfect best man's
speech, Round Table is looking to continue its support of men up and
down the country with their best man duties.

Stephen Saunders, 29, from Round Table, said:- "Our best man's
speech guide proved to be a huge success and now we want people in
Spalding to send us their favourite stag do stories, advice and
pictures. We're hoping to receive some great examples of where to
go, what to do and perhaps, what not to do. Our aim is to use the
responses we receive from people in SpaldingAREA and those from
Round Table's network of more than 500 clubs, to produce a simple,
but authoritative guide to delivering the ultimate stag do, created
by those who know best; the men who've been there and done it!"

People who think they have tips, examples, photographs or footage
that should (or should not) be shared, or will help the Spalding
Round Table create its guide should email

			bestman@roundtable.org.uk.
