Vote for Britain’s Favourite Sandwich?

IS yours a chicken with lettuce between slices of wholemeal bread or something a little more exotic?  In a bid to establish exactly which sandwich is No 1 with consumers, the British Sandwich Association is inviting the public to vote for their favourite sandwich – and in return enter a draw to win a brand new iPad or one of 100 free lunches.  "We know that sandwich shops sell more chicken sandwiches than any other variety, but is this an accurate reflection of British tastes? Sandwiches made in sandwich shops only account for about a quarter of all the sandwiches we consume in the UK. While chicken may hold top spot in the High Street, in the home it is more likely to be ham, egg or peanut butter that tops the bill. Our survey aims to establish once-and-for-all which sandwich is top of the fillings with consumers and we will announce the result of the survey in time for British Sandwich Week that runs over 12 May to 18 May 2013." asks Jim Winship, Director of the British Sandwich Association.  To have their say, consumers simply need to visit:- lovesarnies.com and cast their vote – all those voting will automatically be entered into the draw.

Declan Jones becomes youngest ever British GT4 winner with Oulton Park double

LIVERPOOL based youngster starts 2013 British GT campaign with faultless performance and shines for sponsors Chicago Soft, The London Perfume Company Ltd and HERO Energy.

17 year old teenager Declan Jones put in a stunning performance and made history on his debut in the 2013 Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Oulton Park over the Easter weekend (30 March to 1 April 2013).

The Halewood Village based youngster, who has moved up from the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup this year, went into the event targeting wins and podiums and he duly delivered in the Century Motorsport-run Ginetta GT4 that he was sharing with Zoe Wenham.

Indeed after dominating both practice sessions - finishing almost a 2nd up on their closest class rivals in FP1 and over 1.3 2nd s up in FP2 - much was expected from qualifying and after Zoe took third on the grid for race 1, Declan put in a mega lap to grab pole position for the 2nd race, despite electing only to do 1 flying lap.

Race day saw the duo enjoy further success, with Declan finishing the 1st 1 hour event more than 20 2nd s up on their closest class rival as they romped home to claim the GT4 class victory.

He then made a great start in the 2nd 1 hour race, and had built up a good lead when he stopped and handed over to Zoe.

Despite incurring a 15 2nd penalty at the pit stop - sustained as a result of winning the 1st race - and despite dropping back to 2nd, Zoe then re-took P1 when the lead GT4 car was involved in an accident, and while a late safety car period bunched up the pack, she hung on to ensure it was a double triumph.

Declan now becomes the youngest-ever British GT4 winner and understandably he was ecstatic about the weekend:- "It has just been fantastic," Declan said:- "I couldn't have asked for more. The 1st race was really good. Zoe kept within fighting distance of our rivals and after our pit stop, I went out and within a few laps we were up to 2nd . I was rapidly catching 1st and in the end we won comfortably. In the 2nd race, I started from pole - only the 2nd time I had d1 a rolling start. It went really well and in my stint I pulled out a 20 2nd lead. I also posted the fastest race lap again, which was encouraging. I then passed it over to Zoe. Having won the 1st race we had that time penalty, but she still rejoined in a good position and at the end she defended really well, and we got another victory. Overall it has been a dream weekend. I am really happy with how I drove - everything just fell into place. We have had no problems with the car. It performed well throughout – even with the extra weight we had to run. The team did a superb job. My thanks go to all at Century Motorsport, my team-mate, Zoe, the organisers of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship and of course my sponsors, Chicago Soft, The London Perfume Company and HERO Energy. This is just the perfect way to start the year."

Declan will now continue his 1st season in the 2013 Avon Tyres British GT Championship when he heads to Rockingham next month for Round 2 (5 May to 6 May 2013) and the youngster can't wait to get back behind the wheel of his Ginetta GT4.

Declan's Dad and manager, Kelvin Jones meanwhile couldn't hide his delight:- "Declan was just faultless all weekend. Every session he was fastest and not only that, he absolutely annihilated the competition. His pole position time on Saturday was pretty much the same as last year, but what makes it more remarkable is that we were carrying an extra 150 kilos in lead. Then today to get 2 wins straight out and 2 fastest laps and for Dec to become the youngster-ever British GT4 winner is also very special. Everybody has noticed him this weekend. We've set the bar high and will be keen now to continue in a similar vein at Rockingham."
