BUSINESS DISTRICT GETS A BAR & EATERY

OLD Hall Street is seen as the centre of the City of Liverpool's bustling business centre, yet if it's not a coffee house to conduct an out of office meeting in there is little else to choose from! Spotting a gap in the market on the long and windy street, North West entrepreneur and restaurateur Jaf Siddiqi launched his latest offering, City Wine Bar & Kitchen on Thursday.  City Wine Bar & Kitchen is the latest addition to the thriving food and drink scene in Liverpool City centre. Situated half way down the prestigious Old Hall Street in the heart of the commercial district, City Wine Bar will offer great food, wine and cocktails, seven days a week to a premium business clientele. Old Hall Street is home to four of the largest commercial buildings in the City, with The Plaza, The Capital Building, Exchange Flags and St Paul's Square; all within a 30 second walk from the venue.

The venue and concept has been developed by Jaf Siddiqi, co-founder of the successful Viva Brazil chain of restaurants. Jaf explains "Having operated in Liverpool for a few years now, I have always noticed that Old Hall Street was lacking a quality food and drink venue, so when City Buildings became available it didn't take much to convincing that it was the right spot. A lot of money and investment has been spent on the City in recent year and the food and drink scene is really thriving at the moment with great independent operators. The ships are coming back in for the first time in years, and with the developments of key landmark areas including the docklands, and a surge in both City center tourism and residents, it's a great time to be in business. I want to offer a premium food and drink venue for the business community and also the local City apartment residents of the commercial district, for whom there is currently not much choice at all."

The interiors of the venue have been designed to be informal but stylish, using salvaged from an old grammar school, light fittings and furnishings from old City buildings, to create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, providing the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the main street.

The food menu, which will be available from 11:30am through until 9:00pm each evening, features honest home cooked, classic dishes with a Liverpool twist, categorized as small plates, deli planks, large plates and grills. All food will be freshly prepared from locally sourced ingredients, by a carefully selected team of great local chefs.

Whilst guests will be able to order food at the bar to eat in the bar area, the main dining area will feature fully laid tables, table service and an online reservations facility.  Jaf adds "Our wine list consists of a great selection of wines from great producers, with high quality offerings at both ends of the pricing spectrum. Our beautiful bar, made from old relics and tree log sections, will be serving up a cocktail list laden with old classics, our own signatures and even some molecular mixology to provide a theatre element to the service. Our bar team are also a hand selected group of very talented and respected bartenders from the City."
