Can you make a business of fundraising?

STICK 'n' Step is launching the 50/50 challenge, its biggest ever fundraising initiative, at an event at Thornton Hall Hotel, Wirral on 21 November 2013, from 6pm to 8 pm. With a collective target of £150,000 the funds raised from the challenge will allow the charity to improve and expand its service offering.

The 50/50 Challenge is simple; Stick 'n' Step is giving 50 businesses £50 each to kick-start the fundraising, and then it's up to each company to get creative and see how much money can be raised.

Businesses can opt to invest the initial £50 into fundraising costs, such as buying baking goods to make and sell cakes or entering a sponsored race. They can even reinvest the £50 again and again.

Companies can choose how they fundraise and there's no limit on how much money each business has to raise. The only fundraising target is a collective one between all 50 companies of £150,000. That means anything goes; be it a one-off company event for everyone to get involved or multiple individuals gaining sponsorship for various activities throughout the year.

This is the perfect opportunity to be creative with fundraising, and companies are encouraged to use their business acumen and putting their skills to good use.

Commented Kerry Roe-Ely, Community and events fundraiser at Stick 'n' Step:- "Motivational speaker Dave Verburg will be on hand to get everyone fired up for the year ahead at the launch, and each company will receive its £50, certificate and fundraising pack. The launch will also be a great opportunity for those already signed-up to meet their competitors and share ideas on fundraising activities they could be doing over the next year. We are hoping to have at least half of the companies signed up in time for the launch. However, we will continue to seek out new supporters over the coming months."

Throughout the challenge, Stick 'n' Step will host quarterly networking events, allowing companies to share ideas and updates on progress, send monthly e-newsletters and hold a mid-challenge BBQ for all those involved. The challenge will conclude with an Awards Ball, where fundraising successes such as 'Most daring' and 'Most original' will be celebrated and the total raised will be announced.

Stick 'n' Step provides conductive education and support services to children with cerebral palsy and their families and is the only resource in the North West that is free of charge. Conductive education is a proven approach that aids the development of functional skills in people with cerebral palsy. It costs approximately £3,500 each year to fund just one child's place at Stick 'n' Step, and the charity relies completely on the fundraising efforts of the community to remain a free service.

There are currently 70 children and their families who travel from across the North West and North Wales to attend weekly sessions at Stick 'n' Step.

Stick 'n' Step is still looking for companies to get involved now, so get in touch and prove that you can make a business of fundraising!
