REMODELLING DISPARITY - A COLLECTIVE REMODELLING DROP IN WORKSHOP

Visitors are invited to join local artist Allie Rutherford in The Office of Useful Art for a collective remodelling drop-in workshop. In response to Art Turning Left, participants will use simple materials to create 3D models to show current global disparities considering inequalities in wealth, resource consumption and labour force. In conjunction with DLA Piper Series -Constellations visitors can see a live performance of Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla's Balance of Power (2007). Taking place in Tate Liverpool's 2nd floor gallery, yoga practitioners adopt a set of choreographed 'warrior' poses wearing paramilitary outfits. Each performance lasts 30 minutes.

Visitors can join free daily talks to get an introduction to key artworks on display at Tate Liverpool. These talks are designed for individuals and small groups and visitors are advised to look out for signs in the gallery for times. Groups of over 10 people can register their visit and book a tour separately.

CURATOR-LED GUIDED TOUR - FRANCESCO MANACORDA

Visitors are invited to join Francesco Manacorda, Artistic Director, for a guided tour of Art Turning Left, the 1st exhibition to examine how the production and reception of art has been influenced by left wing values. During the tour there will be an opportunity for visitors to take part in a workshop led by Francesco. Participants will be encouraged to consider the questions raised by the exhibition; do we need to know who makes art? Does participation deliver equality? Are there ways to distribute art differently? Visitors are recommended to visit the exhibition prior to the start of the talk. Advanced booking is recommended. Visitors are invited to join a 2 day conference which aims to shift contemporary museological discourse about play away from outreach and family-oriented education and closer to more fundamental questions of freedom, creativity, indeterminacy and participation. In conjunction with exhibition Palle Nielsen: The Model, artists and scholars from a range of fields will present their research on the different overlaps between museums and play, characterising the latter as a potential destabilising element for the aesthetic, social and political aspects of the museum. Palle Nielsen: The Model is the most comprehensive display of archival material from Danish artist Palle Nielsen's (born 1942) groundbreaking social experiment The Model – A Model for a Qualitative Society 1968 which transformed the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, into an adventure playground.  For more information about this event and to book please visit website.

Families are invited to visit Art Dock family space, situated on the 1st floor and open daily from 10.00 to 17.00. Art Dock gives families the opportunity to relax, play and create whilst enjoying the beautiful views over the Mersey.

Children aged 11 to 14 are invited to meet new people, learn more about the art in the gallery, think about and share their own ideas, and have a lot of fun in these interactive workshops led by young people from Tate Collective. THE GREAT FESTIVE FAMILY ESCAPE

Friday, 27 December to Sunday 29 December 2013 also Thursday, 2 January to Saturday, 4 January 2014 This Christmas, families are invited to an exciting and creative festive workshop. Inspired by Mary Martin's Inversions 1966, currently on display in DLA Piper Series - Constellations, families can create their own reflective collages, exploring mark making and distortion techniques to create a shimmering abstract piece.

PLAYFUL SPACES - A RESPONSE TO PALLE NIELSEN: THE MODEL

Families are invited to join artist Sarah Marsh in her interactive response to exhibition Palle Nielsen: The Model. Families have been sharing their thoughts, ideas and designs to build a creative play space. These ideas and designs have influenced the interactive play space that artist Sarah Marsh has created. Visitors are invited to explore this playful space when it will be open during the weekend 18 January to 19 January 2014. Danish artist Palle Nielsen constructed a large-scale adventure playground for 3 weeks in Moderna Museet, Sweden in 1968. His  work aimed to highlight the importance of play in childhood as a basic right of the child.

WELCOME TO MY WORLD EXHIBITION

Welcome to My World is an exhibition of work by young people from 3 areas of Liverpool who have collaborated with artist, photographer and filmmaker Joan Kushner. Their work explores issues relating to their lives and communities, drawing inspiration from Barbara Kruger's Who Owns What? currently on display in DLA Piper Series - Constellations.  During the exhibition there will be performances by young performance poets, using new art forms to explore issues identified in the production of the visual artworks.

This February half term families are invited to join in with this hands on workshop.
