4 FABULOUS FEMME FATALES SET TO TURN UP THE HEAT AT ST GEORGE'S HALL

Liverpool's renowned Martini Lounge Burlesque and Variety Show will be turning up the heat this February as 4 fabulous femme fatales, including Liverpool's Millie Dollar, are set to ignite St George's Hall, on 22 February 2014, in one awe inspiring, classy and delightfully ludicrous night of entertainment.

The Martini Lounge's vivacious Valentine's Day themed show will feature a fierce line-up of performers brought together to create a cocktail of perfect peeling and tantalising tease. For the first time ever, Martini Lounge organisers are delighted to announce that Scarlett Daggers, one of the hottest properties on both the UK and international burlesque scene, will be making her smouldering Martini Lounge debut. A Rock 'n' Roll redhead with sizzling stage presence and a smouldering gaze to die for, Scarlett stands out from the crowd with her unique signature acts which include flaming hot fire performances; leaving audiences hot under the collar and begging for more!

Back by popular demand is the glamorous Glaswegian Beau Rocks, a favourite of the Martini Lounge who booty shakes her way into the heart of fans everywhere with her own unique (and refined) style of public peeling . Reminiscent of a Vargas pin-up girl with a cute sass, flirty smile and an unmistakably naughty sparkle in her eye, Beau combines glamour with a heart-warming pinch of girl next door calamity… but don't let her angelic features fool you, she has been known to make both men and women blush with a well-timed wink and bump of her hip!

Organiser Millie Dollar has pulled out all the stops and managed to bag the veritable tour de force that is Velma Von Bon Bon as compère for the evening. Endearingly silly and daintily sexual, Velma never fails to raise a good old fashioned belly laugh with her hilarious blend of off the wall humour. Sexy and funny at the same time, there is no doubt that Velma can slip into to the role of the master of ceremonies with ease to host a delightfully delicious evening. And of course, no evening would be complete without a heart racing routine from Liverpool's very own amorous Aphrodite, Miss Millie Dollar. Having effortlessly enchanted audiences internationally with her own famous routines, Millie can perform anything from traditional burlesque to the raunchy bump and grind popularised in the 50's and usually mixes the two in a show stopping finale.

The Martini Lounge's first extraordinary excursion into 2014 marks a hotly anticipated return visit to the striking surroundings of St George's Hall. Audiences have an option to delve into a dinner and show experience where a delicious meal will be served, spiced with special performances; in the same sumptuous surroundings; previous to the main event, for which tickets are available separately.

Unanimously regarded as the must see Burlesque and Variety show in the UK, The Martini Lounge honours the satire and performance art that evolved since Burlesque's 19th Century beginnings. The audience is invited to enjoy a festive performance of glitz and glamour from a by gone age, a stylish and enchanting night of entertainment.

Low carbon jobs call from Southport MEP

A Southport MEP wants Britain to create thousands of new green jobs by developing a crucial new technology.  Liberal Democrat Chris Davies this week won the backing of the European Parliament (524 votes to 141) for his proposals to kickstart the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) to reduce CO2 emissions from industry and power generation.

With CO2 capture plants under construction in the USA, Canada and China, MEPs say that Europe could not only fail to achieve CO2 reductions at least possible cost but also risks losing out on export orders.  Geologists claim that rock formations below the North Sea could provide permanent storage space for all of Europe's CO2 emissions over hundreds of years.

Davies says that the United Kingdom is the best placed country in Europe for CCS development, and argues that it will be less expensive than providing subsidies for offshore wind and solar power.  He said:- "After the financial markets went haywire under the last Labour government the collapse in the carbon price removed the business justification for CCS, yet in most cases it still looks to be a relatively cheap option for many countries.  We are paying billions in subsidies for renewable energy but if our aim is to reduce CO2 emissions at least cost then we must promote CCS. It can allow us to have low carbon electriCity even when the wind isn't blowing or the sun isn't shining.   Although the UK Government is supporting a major engineering study into the use of the technology at Drax power station in Yorkshire the construction cranes are still not in operation.  The world is hugely dependent on the use of fossil fuels to generate electriCity and CCS provides Britain with a major business opportunity. It is one we must not miss."

This is the second CCS law that Davies has shepherded through the European Parliament and he claims it shows that every MEP can get things done if they roll up their sleeves and work hard.

He commented:- "Sadly, 2 North West MEPs don't really try and make changes in the EU. Paul Nuttall of UKIP turns up to vote less than half the times he is paid to and Nick Griffin of the BNP is pretty much ignored.  Whether we are arguing about the EU or not, votes like today show that it is possible to get big things done for the UK in Brussels."

The International Energy Agency says that CCS should be responsible for 20% of the CO2 reductions to be achieved globally by 2050.
