Mitch Green 9-0 Mitch Red Warriors

The Greens welcomed Mitch Reds in the highly anticipated derby. Conditions were perfect for football, cold, and no wind with a small amount of mist in the air. The Greens were at full strength and had 14 players available for selection.

The Reds started the better, they just couldn't find that scoring touch. Eventually Karne Green broke the deadlock for Greens, scoring his first of the day.

A tactical change saw Owen Conteh leave the pitch. He was replaced by Ryan Martin who had an instant effect and would go on to score with his second touch of the ball.

It was now like a game of tennis. Great goalkeeping and last ditch defending kept Grees in the game as the Reds piled on the pressure in true derby style. The Reds were unlucky to be without in-form defender Connor Peake and that showed as the Greens were managing to cause havoc in and around the opposition penalty box. Karne Green found his way through the valiant Reds defence and got his second goal before Owen Conteh, who was back on at striker, scored a great individual goal just before half time to make it 4-0 at the break.

As the 2nd half started, the Greens put out a different formation. The changes were evident almost immediately. Karne was starting to run the game and from a great low ball from Jose Benford, Karne was able to convert and get his hat trick.

From the kick off the Reds went clear again but there was no one there to finish for them. Cool passing was now the theme from the Greens. Ethan was finding through balls and the Greens had the players in the right areas to finish.

More goals including those from Nail Cakir. And Jose Benford punished the Reds who were looking understandably jaded at this point.

The best goal of the day would come from Ethan Thomas. Ethan got the ball in his own half and started to make a powerful run all the way into the Reds penalty area before striking the ball into the top right corner. It was a great move and from the restart the ref blew his whistle for full time.

Both teams should be proud of themselves. It was a great game of football and although the score looked one-sided that was not the case.
