Kevin Wilson Murder

MERSEYSIDE Police has confirmed that a 30 year old man has been arrested on Wednesday, 11 February 2015, as part of an on-going investigation into the murder of Kevin Wilson. The 30 year old who is reported to be from the Smithdown Road area of Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice and theft. He remains in Police custody at this time.

Kevin Wilson died after been shot near to the Junction of Smithdown Road and Holmes Street on Saturday, 7 February. Aged just 17, he died after being shot on Saturday, 7 February 2015, near to the Junction of Smithdown Road and Holmes Street.  A post mortem examination confirmed he died as a result of a single gunshot wound.

Kevin had been living in Liverpool, but is originally from Viewpark in South Lanarkshire. A tribute for Kevin Wilson from his family:- "As a family we are struggling to come to terms with the tragic loss of Kevin. This loss has turned our world upside down. He will be missed every day and our lives will never be the same again. He still had his whole life ahead of him and he has been taken away from us too soon. We would like to thank people for their support during this difficult time and would ask that we be left to grieve in private."

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Keaton, said:- "We are absolutely determined to find the person or persons responsible for this horrendous act but we need the public's help in piecing together what happened before and after they committed this crime. From our examination of CCTV and house-to-house enquiries in the area we are aware that around the time Kevin was shot there were a number of people in the vicinity of Smithdown Road near to Holmes Street. Also, Smithdown Road is a very busy thoroughfare and I would appeal to anyone who was out and about at this time and think they saw anything that in hindsight seems suspicious, to contact us with that information. I'd also like to reassure people that incidents like this are rare and neighbourhood officers will be continuing to patrol the area. We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and we are appealing to anyone with any information about the person or persons responsible for this attack to call us so we can take action against them."

An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is on-going. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Matrix Serious Organised Crime team on:- 0800 230 0600 immediately or Crimestoppers on:- 0800 555 111.
