A FANTASTIC night of high standards and hard judging at Southport Pleasureland's Casablanca's as the semi finals part one took place on Thursday 13 March.
All the semi-finalists deserved to go through, but sadly only a handful could get to the finals, so the judges had a hard night ahead of them.  One of the singers from Widnes said "It is my first time I have sung in a competition and I am glad I have got this far.  It is fantastic just to get to this stage."  Two young ladies took time out from working at Formby's Pinewoods Pub, to sing in the competition, one of them Becky told me "It is grate fun and a fantastic atmosphere here. I am enjoying it, no matter what the out come."
The winners of the first of the two semi-finales are as follows:-
Katherine Daggers, aged 16 from Leyland,
Nicky Spofforth, aged 16 from Netherton,
Rebecca Fuller, aged 17 from Liverpool,
Kathryn Pemberton, aged 16 from Halifax,
Samantha Jones, aged 21 from Tamworth,
Sara Davies, aged 16 from Devizes,
Suzanne Morris, aged 22 from Aintree,
Chris Mason, aged 16 from Southport,
Leanne Tagoe, aged 22 from Childwall,
Jenny Smith aged 16 from Little Lever,
Samantha Halliwell, aged 17 from Bolton &
Anthony Webb. aged 18 from Knotty Ash.
Well done to you all.  The next semi-final will be held on Thursday 20 March and the Final on Thursday April 3.   DO NOT MISS IT!
