Formby's Easter Walk of Witness and Passion Play 2019
Photos by Patrick Trollope.

CHURCHES Together in Formby, Altcar and Hightown (CTFAH), have once again produced their annual event on Good Friday, 19 April 2019.   After the Walk of Witness, that went thought the Village Centre, the group gathered for the Passion Play. This year it was introduced by David Swannick of Churches Together, and with reflection and prayers led by Rev. Mark Stanford of Holy Trinity Church, Formby.

Despite her very busy life Dymphna Edwards, has managed to craft yet another sensitive abridgement of the Gospel records of the Cruxifiction of Christ.

Congratulations to all the cast, too numerous to name, who helped to portray the events of 2,000 years ago with conviction and once again left us to ponder the mighty impact of the message.

The weather was beautiful and the walk and Passion Play were very well attended. Formby Pool Gardens are a great place for such productions; all could see clearly and, thanks to the sound coverage organised by Andy Johnson, all could hear well too. Formby Pool workers provided refreshments on site, the proceeds for which go to Cyclone IDAI, helping African victims of the disaster. Holy Trinity also provided post play refreshments.

Thanks also to all those who obviously put in a lot of time and effort behind the scenes. Without all, this Formby and its churches and some folk from further afield, would have been denied this source of inspiration. It was said that anyone who had questions which they wished to raise, any of the churches would be willing to discuss them or visit:- GotQuestions.Org or Tell-Me-More.Org.

The Churches Together Easter message to all is:- "May the Easter story bring you comfort in sorrow, hope for the future and the peace and joy of knowing God's love."

We wish that people of all creeds and none will find cause for hope in these restless times.
