St George's Day Southport District Scout Parade 2019
Photos and video by Patrick Trollope.

THE annual St George's Day Parade took place on Sunday, 28 April 2019, in Southport, from Waterside Lodge on the Marine Lake to Holy Trinity Church, on Hoghton Street. The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the Southport District turned out in full. Sadly, this year they did not have a band playing, but it still looked impressive as it took up nearly the full length of the Promenade road from the Marine Way Bridge to the old Prom Hospital. The Parade also had a salute from Firefighters who stood outside along with their appliances as the procession passed the Fire Station. This was a fantastic gesture by the local Fire Fighters. The parade ended at the Church and a service was held inside. Unfortunately, due to funding issues, this annual parade might now be at risk of being lost, so this could well be the last, but let's hope not.
