Simply Red, Live in Liverpool
 Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

EVER since May 1985, Simply Red has been a name that entertains and it still is.

Hot after the release of the new album FAKE (Released 7.7.03 in UK), the band have been all over the place, but they took time out to come to Liverpool's Summer Pops. After being in Paris on the 21, I thought they might be showing the strain of a very frenzied schedule, but on the night of the 28 July they were not a slight bit strained. It was one of the best nights of the Pops and I only wish I could have stayed for the full time. The band was in fantastic form and the fans were ready to lap it up. I felt bad, but I could not stay due to restrictions at the venue. I have to say I was glad I got to see some of it. Mick Hucknall came on stage for the first song with grace and the cheers of the enthusiastic crowed rang out. The rest of the night I was told by some of the audience the following day just got louder and better with each song. The bands line up was the one and only Simply Red, Mick Hucknall with... Pete Lewinson on drums, guitars, Kenji Suzuki, Keybourd, Dave Clayton, base, Steve Lewinson, base/wood, Chris De Margary and Ian Kirkham and the backing vocals of Dee Johnson and Sarah Brown. If I have that wrong, please let me know. Also please let us know what you thought of the concert.

Southport Reporter would also like to say that on 08.02.2003, a very big "Happy Birthday" to Simply Red drummer Pete Lewinson. We hope you have a good birthday!
