Southport Christmas Lights Switch On - Part 2

THIS is part 2 of our coverage of the Southport Christmas Lights Switch On, that took place on Lord Street, Southport, on 17 November 2019,thanks to the Southport BID. This year's Lights Switch-On had a host of stars from, CBeebies 'Let's Play' Presenter Sid, to Wet Wet Wet and Liberty X singer, Kevin Simm, who won the Voice UK in 2017 and 1980's pop star, Liverpool's very own legendary Sonia. But it was headliner Peter Andre who captured the attention of the crowds, Also making a magical appearance were Southport's brilliant StarKidz and STA Dance Academy, who both delivered fantastic performances. Crowds were also skilfully entertained by Emilia and by Cameron Maerovet, who both delivered successful sets on the main stage. In fact, according to quite a few of those attending, they delivered a higher standard than that of the accomplished stars on the main stage, but we think they all did a brilliant job. Other attractions included street performances and even the man himself... Santa and 2 of his trainee Reindeer! Plus part of Lord Street was taken over by large fairground rides. But no light Switch-On would be complete without a superb light show and button press. This year, the big red button was pushed by the cast of All Souls Pantomime, along with the rest of the acts from the main stage, the spectacular light show 'tree' installation came on and fireworks shot from the roof of The Atkinson. Then, as the event's MC, TV Presenter and former Heart's Breakfast Presenter, Joel brought he event to a end, show machines shot snow out over the extremely large crowd. We would love to know your thoughts on this event and also this year's Christmas Lights. Please email your views to:- News24@SouthportReporter.Com and let us know your opinions.
