Southport News - Issued on the 4th September 2001

The REPUBLIK was the site of our Night spot visited.  On Coronation Walk, the bar is a trendy place to hang out with friends for a drink but also to look for that very special somebody.
On a Saturday night, the bar is teeming with young twenty-somethings, dressed to kill and definitely up for a party. As Steve, one of the
bouncers, said, "It's a good crowd and although we're open until two o'clock
every night of the week except Sunday, it's worth getting here early on a
Saturday as by twelve, we are at full capacity"
. So, clearly, the place to
be.
The bar is not massive in size but certainly big enough to lose your friends after a couple of drinks. It holds around 280 people but on a Saturday night, figures of 1400 to 1500 people can pass through the Republik doors through the evening.
The music is funky and gets you in the mood for dancing which definitely seemed the order of the night on the date we took a visit. The dress code is fairly smart so make an effort and you never know, you might even get lucky!!!
