Formby's Thanksgiving Service on 80th Anniversary of allied WWII Victory In Europe Day (VE Day)

THE Formby Royal British Legion held a Thanksgiving Service for all those who lost their lives, along with all those who had served the country during World War 2, on the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. This event was held at the Village War Memorial within the Village Centre. The event lasted around 20 minutes and was live-streamed by us on YouTube. This is our 4k Video of the service, which included a 2-minute silence and a bagpiper and a bugler. This footage was shot on location on:- 8 May 2025.

2025 marked the 80th Anniversaries of both:- VE Day on:- 8 May 2025 and VJ Day on:- 15 August 2025. Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) on:- Tuesday, 8 May 1945, marked the official formal acceptance of the unconditional surrender of all the German military and the ceasing of all operations by both the Allies and the Axis of Powers, excluding Japanese forces who continued the war in the Pacific. Many sadly forget that was still raging despite ending in Europe, and that lots of our Allied Forces had now been moved to the Pacific, to fight Japan, following Germany's surrender. It's hoped that this part of the Chapter of World War to will be better remembered in the future and more people will mark the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Japan Day (VJ Day) on:- 15 August 1945.

More information about the 80th Anniversary events can be found online at:- VE-VJDay80.Gov.UK.
