A trailblazing digital leader has been appointed to spearhead Liverpool City Region's ambitious plans to be a global leader in AI for Good.

An award-winning digital leader with extensive experience in industry and national and local Government, Tiffany sits on the Global AI Council and has worked alongside Sir Tim Berners-Lee, creator of the World Wide Web.

The appointment is part of Mayor Steve Rotheram's bold vision to put the Liverpool City Region at the forefront the UK's AI revolution. It comes in a year that has already seen US tech giant Kyndryl create an AI hub in the Liverpool City Region that will create up to 1,000 jobs.

Tiffany will set out her plans at next month's Liverpool City Region AI Summit; a gathering of global industry and academic leaders, cutting-edge researchers and innovative local firms.

Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram said:- "With the recent announcement of billions of pounds of investment into AI in the UK, this is a massive opportunity for the Liverpool City Region to cement our place at the forefront of the country's AI revolution. Artificial Intelligence has the potential to be 1 of the defining technologies of our age; but only if it's harnessed in the right way. That's why we're putting a clear focus on using it as a force for good; to improve public services, support our communities, and grow our economy. Tiffany brings a wealth of experience, from working with global tech leaders to shaping national digital strategies, and she's exactly the kind of trailblazer we need to lead this work. Her appointment as our 1st Chief AI Officer shows the scale of our ambition; and I'm confident she'll help us set the standard for how Regions across the world can put AI to work for the benefit of their people."

The Combined Authority's 1st Chief AI Officer is a key new role aimed at shaping the Region's digital future.

The brief is to lead transformational work across sectors including:- health, transport and education, with an emphasis on ethical, inclusive and forward-thinking AI.

Tiffany was appointed following a rigorous and competitive national recruitment process.

As the Government's 1st Head of Public Participation, she was the strategic lead in the cabinet office across departments, going on to co-found Transmute, a digital transformation consultancy, working with organisations including:- the BBC, Channel 4 and Google.

One of the inaugural Tech City100 and a TED speaker, she advises the Greater London Authority and supports the development of AI and digital strategies across Government bodies.

She was named:- 1 of the 25 women to have shaped the British digital industry over the past 25 years by media magazine The Drum, and in the top 100 women role models in tech by Business Cloud. Her early work included leading the creation of:- DATA.Gov.UK, with Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

Tiffany said:- "I'm thrilled to join the Liverpool City Region; a place with bold ambition and heart. This role offers a unique opportunity in public sector innovation to shape how ethical AI transforms lives, from education to healthcare. I'm excited to collaborate with local Councils and the wider public sector, Regional talent, and innovative partners, at home and abroad, to co-create impactful AI solutions that improve lives and help set a global blueprint for Regional AI delivery."

Liverpudlians invited to brew up change at Mary's Meals tea party this September

THE Formby event will include a performance from a local choir group who have raised £50,000 for the School feeding charity.

International School feeding charity Mary's Meals is inviting the Liverpool community to a free tea party with live music on:- Saturday, 27 September 2025, at:- 1.30pm; 3.30pm, in:- St Peter's Church Hall, Formby.

The event is a chance for supporters to come together and celebrate the life-changing work of Mary's Meals, and to bring a friend along to learn more about the charity's mission. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and a performance from local choir group, Amadeus: the Chamber Choir.

The charity, which recently announced that it is now reaching more than 3 million children in 16 countries, including:- Ethiopia, Haiti, and South Sudan, offers a simple yet powerful solution. By serving daily nutritious meals in Schools, the charity meets the immediate needs of hungry children while also encouraging them into the classroom, where they can gain an education that can be their ladder out of poverty; each School meal costs just 10p meaning it only takes a little to change a lot.

Helping to spread this mission locally is David Holroyd from:- Formby, choir master of Amadeus: the Chamber Choir, who will be performing at the event on:- Saturday, 27 September 2025. Over the past 15 years the group have raised over £50,000 for Mary's Meals through a variety of fundraisers.

Since taking action in 2010, the Liverpool choir has organised annual carol concerts to support the School feeding charity. Even during the pandemic in 2020, they adapted to sing together while social distancing, raising generous donations from the local community.

David says:- "Liverpool people are incredibly generous, and I think that's why they connect so strongly with Mary's Meals. They know that the money they give goes straight to feeding children, with only a tiny fraction spent on administration. That transparency makes it a charity people trust and feel proud to support, especially in times when every penny counts."

Anna Houghton, Supporter Engagement Officer for Liverpool, at Mary's Meals says:- "We're so grateful for the amazing efforts of David and the choir. Their dedication has helped to transform the lives of so many children through the gift of daily meals and education. We're very excited for the Mary's Meals tea party and hope people across Liverpool will join us to learn more about our work; everyone is welcome!"

Mary's Meals' low cost model means that they are able to reach children in some of the world's poorest communities and provide them with a nutritious School meal for just 10p. It may seem like a tiny amount, but for children like:- 11 year old Priviledge, from:- Zimbabwe, it's the difference between going hungry and being able to focus in the classroom.

He says:- "Before I eat my meal, I'm tired and exhausted. When I eat, I'm energised and I can participate and be active in class."

It costs just:- £19.15, for Mary's Meals to feed a child at School for a whole year. By joining the Liverpool tea party, local residents can find out more about the ever-growing global movement bringing hope to millions of children around the world.

Mary's Meals are hosting a series of events across the City this September to raise awareness of their work. To learn more about these events and how to secure a free ticket, please visit:- MarysMeals.Org.UK, or call:- 08006981212.
