BTR Liverpool Santa Dash 2025 5K and 1K

THE UK's largest festive 5K fun run has once again attracted a massive turnout. Over 10,000 Santas participated in the event on:- Sunday, 7 December 2025, making it the biggest Liverpool Santa Dash since its inauguration in 2004. The event also saw the largest ever contingent of Blue Santas, with 1,000 runners donning blue suits to make their way through Liverpool City Centre.

This year's event attracted participants from across the globe, including Santas visiting from:- Australia, France, Germany, Spain, and South Korea, as well as those travelling from closer to home in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

The main run was followed by the annual Mini Dash 1K, which once again began on Castle Street. Hundreds of youngsters aged:- 12 and under, dressed in both red and blue suits, set off from Liverpool Town Hall before finishing nearby.

Liverpool's Lord Mayor, Councillor Barbara Murray, was joined by Father Christmas to officially start the race and welcome both groups as they crossed the finish line. En route, Rock Choir Liverpool entertained the runners for a third consecutive year, performing as the 5K participants passed Derby Square along James Street before heading into the City Centre.

The most senior participant in the 5K was 88 year old David Bliss from Liverpool. At the other end of the spectrum, the youngest registered Santa was 4 month old Luca McGreary, who proudly wore the number 1 bib in the Mini Dash 1K.

In Demand Radio served as the event's Official Media Partner, providing commentary throughout the day. Presenters Lee Butler, Claire Simmo, and Graeme White broadcast live from both the start and finish lines.

This year, the event officially supported 8 charities:- Alder Hey Children's Charity, Claire House Children's Hospice, Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, Liverpool Women's Hospital Charity, Liverpool Zoe's Place, Mersey Cares, North West Air Ambulance, and Wirral University Teaching Hospital.

Congratulations are due to BTR Race Director Alan Rothwell and his team of helpers for staging such an amazing event yet again.

In addition to these festive runs, BTR Liverpool hosts many other running events throughout the year. To find out about the schedule for 2026, along with the latest news on how to take part in the next Santa Dash, please visit the BTR Liverpool website.
