Are you ready for the FREE Big Top Festival this Bank Holiday?

THE Big Top Festival is coming to Town and will be turning Southport into a stage for some of the best Circus Performers in the world on:- May Bank Holiday, 2 May to 3 May 2026, from:- 11am to 6pm!

With incredible acrobatics, spellbinding live shows, the chance to learn your own Circus skills and lots of people being very silly, this totally free event builds on Southport's history as a renowned home for circus and clowning.

With shows happening across 5 different spaces in the Town Centre, audiences can pick and choose what they watch while exploring the shops, cafés and restaurants.

You don't need a ticket, just grab your family and friends, find your funny bone and prepare to be dazzled!


There are 4 locations where a variety of performances will take place:-


• Nevill Street / Monument Square / Town Hall Gardens / Market Street.

The event will take place from:- 11am to 6pm each day.

In order to hold the event, there will be a number of temporary road closures in place as follows...

Saturday, 2 May and Sunday, 3 May 2026, from:- 8am to 8pm:-

• London Street from:- Hoghton Street to the junction of Lord Street, access to Glebe Place and Anchor Street only via Hoghton Street (no access via Lord Street), the bus lane will be suspended between Chapel Street and Lord Street to allow access to Glebe Place and Anchor Street.

• St Georges Place from:- Post Office Avenue to London Street.

Saturday, 2 May 2026, from:- 8am until Sunday, 3 May 2026, from 8 pm... 

• Lord Street Service Road (Prezzo/British Heart Foundation) - This closure is vital to prevent cars parking in these bays due to them being within the event site. Deliveries can take place before:- 9.30am, or after:- 8pm, each day.

Don't Miss The Ainsdale Show This Year!

AINSDALE Flower Show 2026 is to be held on Ainsdale Village Green.  Then the 104th Show. will be held on:- Saturday, 4 July, with Music On The Green being held on:- Sunday, 5 July 2026. The event will have Floral Displays, Live Arena Entertainment, Fairground, Crafts, Trade and Charity Stalls, a licensed Bar, catering units and more...

The events start with a Pet Show on:- 3 July 2025 starting at 6pm with judging starting around:- 6:30pm.

Tickets can be purchased on the day. Family Tickets are just £5 and Individual Adult Tickets £5, but what's fantastic is that UNDER 15 ARE FREE (if accompanied by an adult.)

The Ainsdale Village Green is located just after the Formby Bypass on the way into Southport, on the A565.

Easy access from Stagecoach x2 stops for those heading in from Liverpool or Preston, and Arriva busses,
