Letter for Editor:- 'Take action for good mental health'

"AS Mental Health Awareness Week, over:- 11 May to 17 May 2026, approaches, I would like to encourage readers to join us in taking action to support their mental wellbeing. We have been running Mental Health Awareness Week for 25 years, helping to break the silence around mental health and promoting an openness which has improved people's lives. But awareness alone isn't enough. This year, we're focusing on Action because the small things we do each day can make a big difference to how we feel. Whether that's asking for support, taking time to do things that are good for your wellbeing, or checking in on someone else. When we each take small steps, we build a sense of hope, connection and momentum. Together, we can shape our:- workplaces, Schools, and communities, so that everyone feels supported. And by showing what's possible in our own lives, we can help push for the bigger societal and cultural changes needed to make good mental health a reality for all. Visit:- MentalHealth.Org.UK for information, resources and advice as we encourage you to take action for good mental health this Mental Health Awareness Week; for yourself, for someone else, for all of us." Yours sincerely, Alexa Knight, Director of Policy and Influencing, Mental Health Foundation.

Cunard Reveals Historic 4 Queens Celebration in Liverpool

IN a spectacular tribute to its nautical roots, the British luxury cruise operator Cunard is bringing its entire active fleet to the River Mersey for an unprecedented gathering on:- 16 May 2028. For the 1st time in the company's illustrious history, all 4 of its flagship vessels:-  the Queen Mary 2, the Queen Victoria, the Queen Elizabeth, and the newly launched Queen Anne will converge in Liverpool, the City where the legendary brand was established in 1840.

The upcoming 2028 maritime showcase promises to eclipse the memorable scenes of 2015, when 3 of the Queens sailed into the port to mark the firm's 175th Anniversary, drawing a crowd of:- 1,000,000 onlookers.  The last big event took place on the Mersey with Cunard was the Naming Ceremony of Queen Anne, on:- 3 June 2024.  Our footage from both events that event can be see below.

Adding to the historical weight of the occasion, the Queen Mary 2 will be completing its 1st ever Eastbound Transatlantic voyage directly from New York to the Mersey. This marks the 1st time in 61 years that a Cunard ocean liner has completed this specific route, echoing the final such journey made by the RMS Sylvania, which docked at the:- Princes Landing Stage on:- 18 November 1966.

The convergence of the 4 luxury liners forms the glittering centrepiece of a wider year of festivities for Liverpool. The year 2028 marks exactly 20 years since the port was crowned the European Capital of Culture. To commemorate the milestone, the City council has curated an extensive programme of sporting, musical, and maritime events, which will run parallel to the City hosting matches for the Euro 2028 football tournament.

Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, said:- "Bringing our four Queens together on the Mersey for the first time will be a rare and incredibly special moment for Cunard. Liverpool is where our story began, and returning with the full fleet is a powerful celebration of that bond. It will be an unforgettable day for our guests, for the City, and for everyone who comes together to enjoy the spectacle from the shore."

Leaders from both the cruise line and local Government have hailed the upcoming spectacle.  Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council, said:- "Welcoming the four Cunard Queens at the same time will be an extraordinary occasion for our City, our residents, and our visitors. We are incredibly proud of our rich maritime heritage, and this promises to be a really special moment here in Liverpool, Cunard's spiritual home. 2028 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for us - with the Four Queens' visit, hosting Euro 2028 matches, and the 20th anniversary of Liverpool Capital of Culture, we've got a brilliant programme of events and activities in store. We are looking forward to bringing people together once again and helping to deliver an experience that will be remembered long after the ships have sailed."

Cruisers wishing to witness this remarkable maritime reunion from the water can book places on special 4 Queens Celebration voyages. Before arriving in the North West of England, for maritime enthusiasts wanting to be part of the flotilla from the water, Cunard is offering bespoke 4 Queens Celebration voyages:-
