Monumental Fireworks have won the 2026 British Musical Fireworks Championships

MONUMENTAL Fireworks has been crowned winner of the 2026 British Musical Fireworks Championships after a spectacular weekend of pyrotechnics on:- Victoria Park, in Southport Merseyside.

6 teams competed across:- Saturday, 26 September and Sunday, 27 September 2026, filling the Southport sky with colour as carefully choreographed fireworks were synchronised to music in 1 of the Town's major annual events. And this year's competition certainly delivered.

We regularly praise the British Musical Fireworks Championships, but some of the displays this year were among the very best we have seen at the event.

The organisation by Sefton Council's Tourism Office helped create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, while Paramount Stewarding and Security in Liverpool, the Lost People's tent and St John Ambulance all played their part throughout the weekend.

The 2026 firing order saw 6 teams battle for the title.

On Saturday, 26 September 2026, spectators watched displays from:-

  • Skyburst

  • Monumental Fireworks

  • Sonic Fireworks

They were followed on:- Sunday, 27 September 2026, by:-

  • Celestial Displays

  • Flashpoint Fireworks

  • Fire Monkey Pyro

Saturday brought perfect weather conditions for pyrotechnics; and 3 remarkable displays.

The designated viewing area was extremely busy, with much of it filled by spectators. There also appeared to be plenty of new faces in the crowd, with several people we spoke to confirming it was their 1st time attending the Championships.

They certainly picked quite a night for it.

All 3 teams made full use of both the sky and the ground, illuminating Victoria Park with a blaze of colour.

The visual displays were matched by the sound of the pyrotechnics, but it was Sonic Fireworks which provided a particularly explosive ending to Saturday night.

We later discovered that the finale could be heard in Burscough, while spectators on the showground physically felt the explosive ending.

Until its finale, many did not rate Sonic's display as highly, but that dramatic conclusion ultimately helped put the team into 3rd place.

Monumental Fireworks delivered an exceptional and remarkably consistent display throughout, culminating in a spectacular climax.

It was enough to secure the team 1st place and the 2026 Championship title.

Our Editor also particularly enjoyed Skyburst's contribution, considering it 1 of the best displays he has seen fired at this annual competition.

The judges verdict...  Following the judges' deliberations, the final results were:-

  • 1st Place - Monumental Fireworks (Saturday Night)

  • 2nd Place - Fire Monkey Pyro (Sunday Night)

  • 3rd Place - Sonic Fireworks (Saturday Night)

Congratulations to all the teams for delivering an exceptional weekend of pyrotechnic entertainment.

Monumental Fireworks now joins a growing list of winning teams from previous editions of the competition, including:-

  • 2025 - Optimum Fireworks (Champion of Champions)

  • 2022 - Optimum Fireworks.

  • 2021 - Dragon Fireworks.
