THE SEARCH STARTS FOR NEW STARS

SHOWBIZ hopefuls are now being invited to take part in the country’s longest running and most respected talent competition.

Audition dates have now been set for the 28th Search for a Star competition, which will take place at Southport Arts Centre in May 2004.

Contestants will have the chance to follow in the footsteps of singer Chris Lafferty who won the North West Regional Final and then went on to represent Southport and to finish first in the Grand National Final in Kings Lynn last year.

Lord Fearn Member for Leisure and Tourism said:- “It is a real honour for Southport to be staging the national competition this year when local people will be able to see some of the best new talent the country has to offer.”

Fame 04, 2nd Semi Final

ON Tuesday 18 March Southport's successful Fame Search For A Star at Casablanca (Pleasureland) held it's second semi final.  The talent was incredible and the standard was so high that the judges had to spend over 15 minuets deciding on who would go on to the Final on the 1 April.  The winners of this weeks semi were Alix Drennan, Chris Davies, Jenny O'Connor, Lesley  McJuer, Natalie Murray, Sam Jones and  Wendy Louise Chalke.  They will be joining last weeks winners Terri Ann Devine, Sonya Hurst, Dare Lacey, Anthony Webb, Heidi Louise Mc Geough, Gemma Edwards and Tim M.

This weeks winners are below...

If the standard of this semi and the last one is kept up, I would hate to be judging the finals!   Both weeks have been so close now and if you get a chance to come down and see it, you will not want to miss any of the acts.  They are that good.  Well done to all of you who took part in the last semi.

Judges above relax before the night starts...
