The PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD. 

SOUTHPORT AND FORMBY COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL in partnership with SOUTHPORT AND FORMBY PRIMARY CARE TRUST.

The Community Health Council (CHC) has a wide understanding of both health service difficulties and successes. This understanding is based on knowledge gained from monitoring local health services, advising on complaints, offering health information and researching public attitudes to healthcare.

Chief Officer Margaret Yorwood, speaking for the CHC says

"The CHC recognizes that National Health Service staff are its most valuable resource. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Primary Care Trust, offering the public a chance to say "thank-you" for their care. All too often staff are forgotten once patients recover."

So the plea from the Community Health Council to the people of Southport and Formby is to take some time to think about the healthcare you, a member of your family or a friend has received in recent years. If you decide that someone working in the community has been especially caring and helpful, then please nominate them for the "People's Choice" award, or encourage someone else to do so. The list of people who can be nominated includes district nurses, health visitors, chiropodists, dentists, community physiotherapists, dieticians, opticians, &Ps or receptionists, and many more. As this is a community based award, hospital employees cannot be nominated.

Nomination forms are also available in GP surgeries, pharmacies, dental surgeries, opticians, libraries, post offices, clinics or the CHC office. All completed forms should be returned to Southport and Formby Community Health Council, 53 Hoghton Street, Southport, PR9 OP& by 31` July 2002.

The winner will be announced at a special awards ceremony on Friday 13th September 2002.
