£3bn Just Waiting to be Shared Out!

NEARLY 3 million UK citizens are sitting on a windfall of £3bn; £1000 each, and they don't even know it...  The money is in the form of shares and dividends that people didn't know or forgot they had, though the four biggest reasons for assets going unclaimed are:-

People ignoring post (on average, adults receive 350 items a year)

Death (1% of the population dies each year, or 50,000 people per month)

Emigration (more than 2 million British citizens have emigrated since 1997)

Change of address (2.5 million people change address each year)

ProSearch, 1 of the UK's leading investor location and asset reunification specialists, has reunited almost half a million investors with funds worth nearly £540 million in the past 5 years. The average amount was £1,000, but the largest single amount recovered was £348,000.  "The good news is that big companies are trying harder to return money to investors or beneficiaries. The bad news is that millions of people, frequently deluged by bills and spam, are completely oblivious to their shareholdings, at a time when most of us could do with a little windfall. Unclaimed entitlements are frequently valued in the tens of thousands of pounds. Over time many UK companies were privatised, merged, rebranded, or otherwise became disengaged from their owners, while millions of people move, lose paperwork or pass away, which makes asset reunification an on-going problem for many large organisations. We strongly urge individuals to take control of their investments." says Duncan Stevens, MD ProSearch.

One beneficiary, Jennifer Lazenby of Gloucestershire, recently received a long forgotten cash entitlement. "I had a little dance around the kitchen when I received my cheque. One gets so many scam letters that I did look closely at their original contact to see if there appeared to be any flaws. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the manner in which ProSearch dealt with my unknown claim."
