New creative arts building opens at King George V College

STAFF and students at King George V College invite you to the grand opening of the College's £4 million Arts Space. To mark the opening, on Saturday, 6 June 2015, the College will host the College's annual Summer Festival, which will feature an exhibition of work by the College's Art and Design students, a market fair, and fun and activities for families. The new Arts Space will be the home of creative arts subjects, and will also accommodate other A-Level students. The building will provide some of the best facilities in the area, including a lecture theatre for up to 120 people, which can also be used as a performance space.

Principal Adele Wills said:- "The new building is fantastic and demonstrates how committed the college is to providing the very best facilities for its students and staff. It's a huge space, and provides spacious and bright teaching areas, and a 1st class environment in which to learn and to teach. The building will house the music and music technology departments, which includes individual and group practice rooms, a recording studio and a control room. Film and Media students will have a new film studio, while the lecture theatre can also be used as a cinema space. Current and future students will reap the benefits of this remarkable new addition, which complements our recently refurbished laboratories, learning centre and canteen."

Staff from all of the College's departments will be available on the day to discuss courses, and there will be an opportunity for prospective students to apply for a place. Along with the opening of the new building, you will be able to watch a performance from the College's production of 'Grease', performances from Music and Music Technology students, as well as a special Mandela Tribute from students from Linaker's Primary School. Local businesses have been invited to sell their produce at King George V College Market Fair. These include the:- 'Crackled Pig', 'The Little Boutique', 'Henry's Deli', 'The Pampered Chef', 'Strong's Fruit and Veg' and many more.

The event will be held from:- 11am to 3pm, at King George V College, Scarisbrick New Road, Southport. To find out more please visit:- KGV.AC.UK.
