Fatal road traffic
collision in Southport
MERSEYSIDE Police have issued a witness appeal after
fatal crash, in Southport, took place on 29 August 2015. The collision happened
at around 11.30pm, on junction with Wennington Road, Chester Avenue and Chester
Road, Southport. It is reported that a black Peugeot 307 was travelling along
Wennington Road when it collided with a tree. The driver, a 53 year old woman,
was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 15 year old male, was taken
to Alder Hey Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. The woman is yet
to be formally identified but her family has been informed. Officers from the
Merseyside Police Road Police Investigation Unit are investigating the collision
and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the car in the
Wennington Road area, immediately prior to the collision, to get in contact.
