S.E.E.D (Support and Education for Eating Disorders) are a local support service in the heart of Lancashire, helping people turn their lives around. They raise awareness and promote positive self esteem and body image. On Saturday, 10 October 2015, SEED will host their Annual Fashion Show, with Free Champagne upon entry, with dancers and a live performance by Maurice Cannon (Ex Drifters member) and fire breathing performances in Preston's popular nightclub Evoque, from:- 19:00 until 23:00.  The event will be taking place on:- 'World Mental Health Day', it is a globally recognised awareness day, and hopes to highlight the importance of speaking about mental health issues, such as eating disorders. SEED has enlisted the help from UCLan Volunteer Students, as well as support from local fashion designers who will be showcasing their designs during the Fashion Show. There is also an auction with donated jewellery, and much more to raise money for the charity's essential services.  SEED is a registered charity since 2010 and is the only service of its kind in Lancashire, and was founded in 2007 to provide support to people facing difficulties with food and weight, while also helping family members and carers. Through support groups, carer clinics, befriending and various other projects, SEED provides a network of support offering information, advice, education, resources and practical help to anyone affected by eating disorders. "We strongly believe that people suffering with an eating disorder can get better and that, full recovery is possible." said SEED CEO Shelly Parry. It is estimated that over 1.6 million people suffer from an eating disorder in the UK. While approximately 90,000 people receive treatment for anorexia or bulimia, a high number of people are still left undiagnosed.
