42nd Annual Southport Model Railway Society Exhibition

OVER Saturday, 7 November and Sunday, 8 November 2015, the Southport Model Railway Society will be hosting the 42nd Model Railway Society Exhibition, at Greenbank High School, on Hastings Road, Southport (PR8 2LT). The school is A565 between Hillside Railway Station and Royal Birkdale Golf Club, and has an onsite, free car park. Some words from Tony Kuivala, Exhibition Manager:- "This is our 42nd consecutive Annual Exhibition and our first at new venue at Greenbank High School. It will be our final time in November, as we revert to last full weekend of 24 September to 25 September in 2016. Each year we strive to improve our presentation and content. In 2015 we have revisited everything including Catering (new menu) within our management of using a superb new venue. For your pleasure and entertainment we present in excess of 20 Layouts. Our star attractions will be Bear Creek from Sutton Coalfield and Shasta from Cumbria. These reflect our experience during September when we were in Colorado. Bear Creek although a fictitious location, is set in one of the many canyons typical of Colorado where mining and logging proliferated. Here you will be able to see fragile wooden trestle bridges curving round mountains, view soaring steel trestles crossing valleys and hear the sounds of steam engines roaring out of rock faced tunnels. Shasta is modern image in the Sacramento River Canyon with torturous curves of Union Pacific's former Espee line through the scenic Shasta sub division seeing long intermodal and merchandise trains. Amongst other guests from long way away are Schull - Irish 1930's Narrow Gauge from Fowey in Cornwall and Tom's Boatyard from Newbury in Berkshire. From nearer home is the delightful scenic and musical Museum of Transport from Heysham. We have a delightful mix of invited Displays, demonstrations and Traders to supplement your experience and enjoyment."
