Merseyside Police "welcomes" sentence of a man who drive an off road bike thought Shopping Centre!

MERSEYSIDE Police have said that they have:- "welcomed" the Courts judgement, when the sentencing was passed to a 20 year old man, after riding an off road motorbike through a Shopping Centre, in Bootle, Merseyside. James Kinsella, from Bootle, admitted dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and not wearing protective headgear following the incident at the Strand Shopping Centre, on 7 January 2016. On Tuesday, 1 March 2016, Kinsella was sentenced to 12 months in prison. He has also been disqualified from driving for 3 years and must take an extended test and had his licence endorsed.

Bootle neighbourhood Inspector Ian Jones said:- "James Kinsella had a blatant disregard for the safety of other people when he drove the scrambler bike through the Strand shopping centre. It is clear from the CCTV footage that the centre was very busy at the time and there were a number of shoppers; including mums with prams; just feet from the bike. It is only by sheer luck that nobody was struck by the bike and seriously injured or worse. I want to reassure the community that we take the issue of scrambler bikes very seriously and we will do everything we can to take them off the streets and find the people responsible for using them in an illegal, dangerous or antisocial way. With the help of the community and partner agencies, we have arrested several people over the last two months for similar offences and this case demonstrates how effective partnership work can be to tackle such serious issues. We also recently organised a poster competition at schools in Bootle, Seaforth and Litherland, engaging with our younger pupils, and helping them to express how they feel about the antisocial use of these bikes and getting across the message that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated. Many riders don't give a moment's thought to the consequences of their actions and the misery they bring to decent law abiding members of the community. Help them answer these and more pointless questions in a ludicrously lyrical and magically musical tour of the Imaginary Menagerie's finest exhibits. The 1 hour show is designed to delight big children and little adults alike, packed full of songs, tall tales and some very peculiar creatures�

The show was witten by Anthony Spargo and Oliver Lansley a published playwright who also works extensively in television co-creating/writing ITV2's 'FM' and numerous other projects including:- 'WHITES' which was shown on BBC2 and starred Alan Davies. Oliver was named a 'Broadcast Hotshot's' by Broadcast magazine and won the 'Multi talented' award at Channel 4's:- '4 Talent Awards.' Director James Seager notes of the show's success that:- "I think the show succeeds in not patronising kids, which is important. It doesn't talk down to them, and I believe that this is one of the reasons why it has a huge fun appeal and a real joy about it which adult audiences respond to."

People with sight loss in Southport invited to attend free online skills session

BLIND and partially sighted people in Southport are being invited to attend a free online basic skills session to help them get online and benefit from technology. The event is part of RNIB�s Online Today scheme to get 125,000 people with sensory loss online. The workshop is being delivered by partner organisation Action for Blind People, at Galloway�s Southport, 22 Wright Street, Southport, Merseyside, on Wednesday, 16 March 2016, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Anyone with sight and or hearing loss is welcome to attend one of the sessions. The session will include how to get the most from products such as:- tablets, smartphones and eReaders. There will also be the chance to be hands on and try out these gadgets and ask questions. Andrew Coleman, Assistive Technology Coordinator at Action for Blind People, said:- �Being online can make a huge difference to someone�s life.
