Photographs on this page by Patrick Trollope.

THE Disney Magic, a 294m luxury cruise ship, owned by the Disney Cruise Liner, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company paid a visit to the river Mersey and mooring at Liverpool's Liverpool Cruise Terminal, on Sunday, 12 June 2016. Her 1st visit was on Friday, 27 May 2016, but that was a more low key affair, as it was a Friday. But on Her 2nd visit, the City's waterfront came alive. This distinctive vessel sail in to the river. On the shore, an outdoor cinema played Disney films which throughout the day. We are told they where:- Frozen (sing a long), Finding Nemo, Toy Story and Mary Poppins... All played in full! Despite the rain, the Royal Marines Bands kept on playing on the band stand and performances from opera singer Danielle Thomas and Liverpool’s Ukulele Orchestra took place. For the kids, a Magic Garden appeared for them to explore, on the Pier Head... Also both kids and adults where encouraged to embrace fancy dress for the day... Just before the events took place, the Assistant Mayor and Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Events, Councillor Wendy Simon, said:- "It’s a massive coup to welcome this vessel to the City, particularly as it was Her trips to the British Isles and Liverpool was just 1 of only 2 destinations in England, that she will sail in to this year! The other being Dover. We couldn’t let the opportunity pass to mark the occasion in some way, and we opted to run a family friendly event on the Pier Head. It also gives us the chance to show the 2,700 passengers just what Liverpool is about. It also lets us show them why we have a World Wide reputation for staging fantastic free, outdoor events. We hope the passengers and crew enjoyed the visit of what was 1 of the highlights of the 2016 cruise season, in Liverpool.” The day was ended with the ship blowing her special whistle on departure, as fireworks light up the sky. to see the video footage of the departure, please click on here now.
