Nightrider Brings Its 'Magical Mystery Tour' to Liverpool

"ROLL up, roll up, roll up for the Magical Mystery Tour! Step right this way!" Nightrider, the iconic 100km charity cycle, rolls into the birthplace of the Beatles for 1 night only; over 16 July to 17 July 2016. While Liverpool sleeps, over 300 lycra clad cyclists will raise £50,000 for dozens of good causes including:- Alder Hey Children's Charity, Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, The National Autistic Society and Wirral Mencap. Each rider will fundraise for their favourite charity. The action packed 100km Nightrider route is made up of 2, 50km loops, each with a halfway break. Loop 1 is through the Mersey Tunnel (which will be closed to other traffic) to the Wirral Peninsula where highlights include:- Royal Liverpool Golf Club, West Kirby and Port Sunlight. Loop 2 takes in many more world famous landmarks including Liverpool Museum, Albert Dock, Sefton Park, Strawberry Fields, Knotty Ash, Anfield Stadium (Liverpool FC) and Goodison Park (Everton FC).

The moonlit ride will start and finish at the Pier Head on the Liverpool waterfront in front of the Three Graces (The Royal Liver Building, The Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building). Alongside this beautiful backdrop, the first Liverpool Village festival will taking place whilst the riders set off. Martin O'Shea, Managing Director of The Liverpool Village, said:- "This is Liverpool's South Bank, its Rastro and its Ramblas all wrapped in to 1, on what was recently voted as Europe's finest waterfront. It will now be animated throughout the summer and we're looking forward to welcoming the riders to the Pier Head and giving them a real Liverpool send off."

The route will be clearly sign posted so that Nightriders can cycle at their own pace. There will be break stops en-route plus medical support and mechanical back up provided throughout the night. Everyone will receive a well earned breakfast and medal at the finish line.  Nightrider is organised by leading charity tour operator Classic Tours. Managing Director, Gavin Kramer, says:- "Liverpool is renowned for its legendary nightlife and we're excited to be introducing a brand new experience to the City this summer. Nightrider will be a unique way to discover Liverpool's world famous landmarks and hotspots while raising funds for dozens of charities."

Nightrider is open to anyone aged 18+ of average fitness who is prepared to train beforehand. Participants pay a registration fee of £39 and then either raise a minimum sponsorship target of £175* approx. (*exact amount set by each charity). For more information and to sign up visit the Night Rider website.
