Liverpool businesses invited to play with Merseyside football legends in celebrity golf classic

CAUDWELL Children, the national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families, is looking for businesses and private individuals to join a host of Merseyside football legends at its annual Caudwell Children Celebrity Golf Classic (CCCGC).

The event, which takes place at the Praia D'El Rey Golf Club, in Portugal, on Thursday, 14 September 2017 and Friday, 15 September, 2017, will see the likes of Liverpool's Ronnie Whelan, Mark Lawrenson and Alan Kennedy joining former Everton centre half, Derek Mountfield for what the charity desrcibes as:- '1 of the most prestigious charity golf events in Europe.'

Kerrie Davies, Head of Events at Caudwell Children, says that other Merseyside greats are still to be confirmed. She said:- "Reds 'Super Sub' David Fairclough, is a regular at the event and were hopeful that David James, the Liverpool and former England goalkeeper, will play again after staring in the event last year."

The Praia D'El Rey is one of the most stunning courses in Europe. As Kerrie explained:- "Located on the coast it's set amongst extensive pine forests and undulating dunes and it has the most spectacular view over the Atlantic, and the Berlenga Islands beyond. The course has been designed by the renowned American golf architect Cabell B. Robinson. The deep bunkers, sloping greens and sandy dunes contrast sharply with the lush fairways, making it the complete golf challenge."

Kerrie is hopeful that keen golfers, who follow both Merseyside clubs, won't be able to resist the combination of sun, sand, sangria and a round of golf with their football heroes. She said:- "The CCCGC is a fantastic way to thank corporate clients, reward high achievers, and network with business people whilst raising funds for disabled children."

Kerrie says that golfers will also get to mix with some great names from the words of sport, music, television and film. As she explained:- "We've enjoyed the support of some fantastic names over the years. Ant and Dec, Tom Lister who played Emmerdale arch villain Carl King, Olympic sprinter John Regis and Oliver and James Phelps, who played the Weasley twins in the Harry Potter series of films, have all played in the CCCGC."

Dean Andrews, the critically acclaimed actor who starred in Life on Mars, Last Tango in Halifax and Waterloo Road, is delighted to be heading for the sun. As he explained:- "I love playing in this event. It will be a fantastic couple of days on a spectacular course, with fantastic people for a really important cause. The event is superbly organised and the fine dining and convivial atmosphere add to the enjoyment."

Ticket packages for the event include 3 nights' accommodation at the luxurious, 5 star, Praia D'El Rey Marriot Beach resort. "Players get a fantastic breakfast, lunch on the course, drinks in the clubhouse and three sensational evening meals featuring Portuguese and Mediterranean menus." Said Kerrie. Harry Potter star, Oliver Phelps says he's looking forward to playing in the event again. He said:- "It's always a great laugh and very social. The perfect mix when raising money for such a great cause."
