Formby's Carol Wagon 2017
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

FORMBY residents and visitors to the Village have been able to see the Formby Rotary Club's Carol Wagon. This tradition has taken place for well over 40 years, and we are trying to find out when it actually started. If you know, please do let us know, and especially, if possible, the name of the person who started it. For many years, it has taken Father Christmas on a tour of the streets around Formby Village. Sadly, not all the roads can be covered by the small army of volunteers, but as the Village has expanded, so has the route. The idea is not only to bring some Christmas spirit to those who see it, but also to raise funds for charities that the Club support though-out the year. We had the privilege of following them on part of the group?s 2nd to last rounds of 2017. These are a few photographs and some video footage we took of them as they interacted with young and old. On our footage and pictures are some images of the fantastic Christmas Light display on a house, that's was located on the route of the Carol Wagon.  The house is decorated annually by, by a local Formby gardener, James Comish Landscapes and family, to raise funds for:- DoItForDan.UK for more information. Congratulations to all who took part in this year?s Carol Wagon activities, and a special thanks to Father Christmas, who has taken took part every year since it started. Please do let us know your views and thoughts about this annual event, via emailing us to:- News24@SouthportReporter.com; especially if you know the full history of this tradition.
