Murder of Pamela Todd in Southport

MERSEYSIDE Police are appealing to the public for help in tracing the murderer of 32 year old Pamela Todd from Southport.

Pamela's body was found at 8.30pm on Monday 11 August by two couples out walking, within the Queen's Silver Jubilee Nature Trail, beside the Esplanade in Southport.

Following a post mortem it has been revealed that she died from wounds to her abdomen and injuries to her neck.

As the body of the mother of three was found close to three car parks, detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously from Thursday 7 until Monday 11 August to come forward.

The three car parks are:-

The coach park adjacent to the 'Caravan Site Southport Club', by the fairground.

The car park at the shrimpers site at Marine Drive, close to the roundabout.

The car park at the slip road near to the fairground.

Detective Superintendent Mike Semple is leading the investigation, "This is a terrible crime which has resulted in the death of a 32 year old woman who was mother to three children.  I'd therefore appeal to anyone who saw anything relevant or unusual at one of the car parks or within the nature trail from last Thursday until this Monday to come forward. Not only do we need the help of local people who may have been in the area over the last week or so, but also nationally, of people who may have been holidaying in the area.

Scientists are continuing today (15 Aug. Friday), to carry out forensic tests at the scene and detectives will be carrying out door to door inquiries at the caravans in the local area. These inquiries will include visitors who have traveled from addresses around the country."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detectives on 0151 777 3423 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
