Media Question Time 2009

...This is the latest information...

THE Media Question Time will be held again in 2009 after receiving lots of interest in 2008.  As with the last event the next events will be aimed at letting you, the public, to have the chance for you to air your views about how the news is reported in your area.  The event now will move to Liverpool as well as Southport.  More information will be released soon.   The format will remain the same as used in the November 2008 Question Time, but the panel will change.  Just as we did in for the November 2008 event, we also hope to follow up the events with full reports shortly afterwards.  If it is possible, the events will be recorded and highlights will be made available for people to study after the event.  The events will be free to attended and we hope to open it up to all age groups this time.

2009 Format:-  We will attempt to answer all questions taken in advance and also open them up to the floor, for your views.  Then if we have time, we will take other questions from the floor.

How do I leave a question?  Questions can be emailed in advance to news24@southportreporter.com with the subject and the name of the person who is asking the question clearly marked on it.  After the pre-requested questions have been taken, the floor will be opened for questions from the audience, if time allows.

...Media Question Time 2008 - Round up...

THE 2008 event was the first one we have run and held in the Latin Lounge on Post Office Ave. in Southport.   We would like to thank all the members of the panel, the venue and also the public for making this event happen.  It is now our aim to expand on this fantastic start and develop this further.   This is a quick summery of who attended.

The event was hosted by  television presenter, Jonathan Thompson.  All but one panel member was able to attend with the panel being made up with:- Sam Clack BA (Hons) - Senior Broadcast Journalist - Dune 107.9; Professor Chris Frost - NUJ Ethics Council Chair and Journalism at Liverpool John Moores University; Martin Hovden - Editor, Champion Newspaper; Jon Jessop - KCR 106.7FM and Southport Community Radio (SCR); Patrick Trollope BA(Hons) LBPPA - Editor of Southport Reporter & Freelance Photojournalist.  Ian A. Fairbrother was unable to attended as he was in hospital and sent his apologies.  As well as the public also attending the event where representatives from the Arial Trust and also local political parties.
