A-Team Star in Visits The North West
Photographs and Video by Patrick Trollope

EVER one who was a lad or a girl from
the 80’s, knows the story. This TV show was a massive draw and one
of the biggest of its time. Its tag line which was always read out,
became well known the world over… “Heroes for hire.”.... Not
forgetting the show's catchphrases such as "I love it when a plan
comes together" and “Pity the fool”. If
you do not know what we are on about, the TV show was based around
four US Army Vietnam Veterans, who had been framed for a crime they
didn't commit. The fictional group, trained by Special Forces then
started to work as soldiers of fortune, while being on the run from
the military. Their new mission was to clear their names and help
the innocent. This year this hit TV show has been updated and will
hit the UK’s big screens as the new
A-Team thunders into box
office history. So it was good to have a chance to see one of the
original cast and we had the amazing opportunity not only to
exclusively video over an hour’s footage of a talk which this cast
member gave, but also we had the chance to snap a few pictures along
the way. Most of our devoted A-Team and Battlestar Galatica fans
will know this actor was in Southport for the;
Cult TV Convention
at the Southport Floral Hall back in 2002. Lots of the visitors to
the convention and also punters in a local hotel will remember just
how amazing he was when playing the piano into the early hours. So
who is this actor and why was he in Manchester? Dirk Benedict is in
the UK on tour playing another well known TV character, Lieutenant
Columbo. At the special event, held in
FAB Café Manchester
,
Dirk Benedict
confirmed he was looking at retiring from acting after this stage
show ends. He also gave many amazing insights into his personal life
and history, as well as lots of stories about his times on sets of
the TV series A-Team and lots of others. This event was very well
managed and it is hoped that other events like this will be put on
in Liverpool and Southport very soon. We will keep you posted! To
see our video footage, log onto Southport.TV as it will be added to
the site very soon….… We wish Dirk all the best of luck in his new
roll as Columbo and also for his future. We hope his lifelong
mission to be an author becomes reality. Please do pop back to
Southport mind you, as we want to hear more of your piano playing.
For all you A-Team fans, keep an eye on
Southport Vue Cinema and on
