WELCOME 2004 for most of the UK¿
By Patrick Trollope BA (Hons) LBPPA
WELL it was a real Frank Spencer start to the year with disasters throughout the special night. Those hardy souls who braved the elements on New Year's Eve, were able to enjoy a thriving club scene, throughout the area. We decided to pop into Formby Pubs and Southport Pubs and Clubs to see what was going on.  Everyone seemed to be having a good time, as demonstrated in our photos. Let's hope that 2004 continues in the swing, but without the bad weather.

But new year was postponed in Liverpool. No not as a scouse joke, but due to the gales and snow. On Friday night Liverpool City Council took the opportunity of the short spell of clement weather, to hold the firework display that had had to be postponed. The fireworks were discharged in St John's Gardens, and all the immediate buildings were floodlit. The spectacle was enjoyed by thousands of people. We were informed that in typical Liverpudlian style, pub goers flocked back to the town to take advantage of celebrating the New Year, take two.
