It was rocking again at Southport's FUBAR..!
Report written by Matt Colman...

OK... just sit back and picture the scene, dozens of "emo's," "moshers," rockers and everything in between, getting together in the dark up stairs bar named FUBAR on Waverly St. It can only mean one thing... the return of Haydn's rock nights. The barman and talent finder Haydn told us that:- "Southport was screaming out for it."   So we headed down to check it out. After the overwhelming response to the one off in memory of Stig, the management of the bar asked Haydn if he'd like to make it permanent once again... and he couldn't refuse. Haydn has a pure passion for what he does, he loves his music and it definitely shows with the wide array of bands and music the event plays. We arrived at about 10pm, Haydn was meeting and greeting the folks outside with a big grin on his face.

Alas, the place wasn't full but it was getting busier by the hour. There was a great atmosphere; it was rocking, to pardon the pun. People all getting together for one thing... their love of the specialist rock music. There are not many places in Southport that can say they offer the kind of playlists the rock night offers, from metal to rock there was something for everyone.

Unfortunately, there were no live bands, on the night we visited, but Haydn has assured us that in the very near future there will be lots of bands yet again strutting their stuff. Yes, it will be yet another chance for the seasoned pro's and the newcomers to play their music to the lively crowd of rock fans.

The night was good-natured, as everyone seemed to just want a good night: no hassle or violence, just the chance to take advantage of the drinks offers and the fantastic music. What a refreshing change for Southport; if only all the other popular night time music styles in the town followed this line of behaviour. In FUBAR, it is the people and the atmosphere which really make it a great night out! I wish Haydn the best of luck with it for the future. I hope it will really become an extremely busy night, showcasing great talent. I'm sure it will happen, but like they say, use it or lose it!

Haydn's rock nights are held in until further notice  FUBAR every Friday night. The entry is around £2. If this is your kind of music, you'll love it.

Also, please keep an eye on my new Magic Matt advert page on Mersey Reporter... I will let you know more about that on that page.... as if it were magic!
