£23m Ocean Plaza Project.
With the construction programme at the Ocean Plaza development in Southport rapidly nearing completion, Shepherd Construction workers looked on as the new McDonalds restaurant was lowered into place.

Manufactured off site by Shepherd Construction's sister Company, Yorkon, the seven and a half tonne unit was craned on to pre-prepared foundations in just a few hours. Six units were lowered into place, already complete with catering equipment, signage, glazing, heating, plumbing, ventilation, ceramic finishes, joinery, internal walls and seating. The coming weeks will see the installation of the roof, outer cladding and external works.

This highly innovative method of building ensures that the restaurant will be open for business up to 50 per cent faster than conventional methods, with minimum disruption during construction.

The £23m waterfront leisure complex will soon reach completion, and will contain a seven screen cinema, ten pin bowling alley, family entertainment centre, restaurants and a retail park.
