- ON
Thursday 10 June the local elections were held on
Merseyside and in other parts of the UK. For the
North West it was the first time that Postal Voting was
the only way to vote. This has resulted in problems in
lots of place, but Sefton was not one of them. Sadly for the Southport Party, who in 2002
took 3 seats ended up this
time loosing them. This year Sefton has yet again no one
party in
overall control. This how ever is a different matter in
Liverpool were the Liberal Democrats have held again overall control of
the council. The postal vote regardless of the
controversial
has increased voter participation, with a turn out of 89357 (43.93%)
in Sefton. We will do a special report on Monday evening
on the European Elections and we will take a look at the
Local Elections as well.
