Cunard, White Star Ocean Liner visits Liverpool...

THE 190.94 meter long ocean liner Caronia visited Liverpool on Friday 26 September on its UK cruise. The liner carrying 600 plus visitors from the US and the UK gracefully sailed in to the Mersey from Cobh (South Ireland), in the morning. The 26.2 meter beamed liner was then moored up for most of the day in the river, leaving in the evening to its next port of call, Greeneck. The vessel was continually serviced through out the day by the Mersey Ferry. This allowed passengers to visit the historic port and all it has to offer. If you missed her majestic entrance and departure, do not get disappointed as the QE2 will be returning next year, not only once but twice on the 31 May and 30 August 2004. This will be another fantastic site to see. One of the many onlookers from Liverpool said, "It is fantastic to see the stately looks of a liner in the Mersey once again. The lines signature colour red and black funnel makes you think what the Mersey must have been like in its hay days in the 1840 and early 1900s. You can not help but admire its sleek profile, one you do not get from modern liner designs."

Clogs on Lord Street.

SOUTHPORT Swords organised it's annual dance last on the 20 September. Despite the rain, the clog dancers preformed out side the Southport Arts Centre and on the Band Stand. We will let the photos tell the rest.
